I love harness racing. I go to the track 4 times a week or so.... (maywoodpark*com/)

I rarely win and for sure have lost a lot more than I have won but it is fun, cheap, and still gives you the chance to win.

Plus the track I goto is Maywood which is pretty grimy but it adds to the fun when people actually NEED to win money not just WANT to win :)

Twenty years ago was sitting at the track with my computer and running calculations on the spot for races per books on the subject. Harness races are the best bet as statistically they follow the most consistent true to form performances as compared to thoroghbreds which means they are statistically more predictable. In the end if you dont know the line of birth of all the horses running its a bitch. Those guys are the only ones I've known who actually make consistant money. If youre a gambler the best odds by far is still blackjack.

If your REALLY good at counting cards, which is not illegal, blackjack is not really a gamble ;)

I will digress slightly from horse racing but re-the subject of blackjack if you dont know what you are doing the odds are in your favor with this simple method taught to me by a vegas dealer. Do exactly what the dealer would do. In otherwords stats say you are even with the house if you copy the house. But with one exception....House pays you 1.5 on blackjack so when the house wins on a blackjack its an even loss. If you know how to double down and split with great cards again you have an advantage over the house. Ta Da! Now you can win. Downside is you have to play long enough for the odds to kick in.

Never Bet on horses to win, lay them to lose instead. I use Betfair everyday and together with lots of available Bots, its impossible to lose, unless you are incredibaly stupid.
    I make money 7 days a week.
If you live in the land of the free sadly you dont have the freedom to use Betfair.
Believe me its a liscence to print money, try it if you can, you can even use free software to bet small amounts and get around their minimum bet rule, like Bet Trader Pro for instance

Hi, Sorry this is a nice hope, but no, if you play perfect strategy blackjack and don't count cards, you are still at a statistical disadvantage. (Because the player acts first). You can get close to even money depending on the particular house rules, but u will ALWAYS be at the disadvantage of the house unless you are counting cards.

Also counting cards doesn't give you some amazingly good odds where u win everytime. It can give you at best a couple % points in the black, and so you'd need to play for a significant time period to beat the swings. It is possible, but very very few people do this. Many more people think "Hey I might count cards and win big someday" and then jus play normally anyways haha

Wow, this was a long rant, back to BH methods..

Okay this is an oldish thread, but so am I.:)

Just wanted to say I am indeed a horse racing fanatic. UK racing only, mainly handicaps.

Hard game but made 18% on outlay last year and well ahead of that this year at 83%, but expect that will drop by end of 2009. Had a few big winners, exceptional and yet to hit usual losing streaks. Still better than putting money in bank and way more fun.

The toughest part about parimutuel betting on horse racing is the ridiculous amount of variables.....horse, jockey, running surface, drugs, natural and physiological body functions, injuries (known or not), etc.
Having said that, if I had an unlimited amount of bullets to spend I would simply bet large bets on the favorite for a particular race that has a history of winning on a similar running surface against a similar size field of competition.
Casual horse racing gamblers are the people that build sportsbooks and racetracks and pay for the upkeep :)

Second favorites, 3 win singles, 3 EW doubles and an EW treble. Only do it for
the gamble but when all three win that's much beer tokens!

So what's the catch? Picking a loser would seem like a piss-easy job since only one horse will win.

Complete horse racing noob here. :D

I am a racing fan but I rarely put money on anymore. I was making $150-$300 a day a few months ago but I decided to stop because I found something better. You got a put the work in to make money with HR.
