Well, as the title suggests, I am looking for a good solid course/guide to google local plus optimization. It's been a while since I had a look at it and I recently got a client who wants me to rank his website in the top of the local map results.

    Any pointers are much appreciated.

    Thanks,

That is the same as google local plus or am I wrong?

Yeah, that's what I am talking about. It's just the new name given to google places by Google.

I found this page to be helpful:
    http://www.searchenginejournal.com/top-7-tricks-to-rank-in-google-places/30785/

Citations and reviews are the most important.
It has been my observation that google places pages with 100+ citations can be outranked by a google places page with less citations (not a huge amount less) but has more reviews. Places pages with a handful of reviews can push it to the top of the "7-pack".

Thanks for the replies, but I am looking more for a step-by-step course that goes over everything in as much detail as possible. Do you have any suggestions?

The best is Local U but it's only 1 time per year and it's pretty pricey and it's in person not a webinar but it has all the top dogs of the local industry and it's how I got started.
