I can get traffic but the bounce after 5-10 sec..Is there a way to keep them
on the site for longer and not let them go..

I don't mean by using exit pop ups I tried that on one of my other sites and Google shoot my site from 1 down to 9 in two days

    find traffic that does popunders....

people do not realize that a popunder has happened...
and they do not close the window after the are off the computer..

it makes the time spent on your site increase like crazy.... artificially of course.

    Good Luck

Google analytics is always malfunctioning. It malfunctioned on my site and was reading a 70% bounce rate. What i did was put two lots of analytics code on the site, and my bounce rate went down to 1%.

I think 1% is what it should be but 70% was definitely way off. Just try putting the code on the site twice. Maybe once as a block of code for every page and again using some kind of "adsense module" if the website design program your using has such a one. I know drupal has one so i'm guessing WP has one too.

For bounce rate, you can try Iframe your other pages from the same website. So google analytics will think that visitor had visited 2 pages.

For time spent on your site, try embeding related youtube video with autoplay. People likes to watch videos :)

    This helped me alot.

I am also going to try double analytics code and see if it will work to lower bounce rate.

    This plugin works well:

    Code:
    [URL]http://qody.co/owl/alejandro/[/URL]
You just redirect it to another page on your site, then when your visitor moves towards closing the tab, the second page loads before he is able to do so. My bounce rate was around the same as yours, but I got it down to about 30 percent by the time I sold the site within a few months of using the plugin. I don't know if there are any free ones that do the same thing, but for the money that one works very well.

Write a macro to visit your site and spend 15 minutes viewing pages. Proxies of course. It's about the simplest macro you could write. Imacros would be all you need (free). Have it running in the background 24/7.
also above. 1 per cent bounce rate would be extra ordinarily low. Anything below 33 per cent is world class. 1 per cent...unless the page has a form to sign up for free gold...that is not even remotely realistic.

    This is very true.

Maybe try to add something interesting to the site. Something that people would love/like to click and check out more. It doesn't have to be real - like " How I get my brand new BMW yesterday..." or "Check out my big home".

My valuable sites have bounce rate ~50% which I suppose it good. People sometimes gets all the needed info from the first page - they do not want to go to the next one. Like they wanna check the price of the LCD - they got the #1 and they reached their goal so no need to skip more pages. Google knows it also. Keep it at about 50% and you will be alright.

    Good luck!
