Any BHW Nomads Working in Thailand?

Me and Mrs are thinking of going for 4-6 weeks in January as it is too miserable and cold in the UK. I would be leaving tomorrow if the Mrs didn't have family coming across from the US for the new year.

Anyway, back to my question. Any BHW nomads currently working out of Thailand or have in the past? Any experiences, things I should know, watch out for or recommendations?

My plan is simple. Live close to the beach and both of us work for 4 hours per day, spending the rest on the beach or taking days off having fun, couple of hours replying to emails on the evening keeping everything ticking over until the next work day.

I've spent 4 weeks in Pattaya, august this year. If you exclude drunk Brits vomiting everywhere you look at 2am and 60yo fat white dudes walking by hand with underaged Thai girls, it's actually very nice place.
But seriously, it's good enough for remote working. It's cheap, internet is fast, food is amazing, decent beaches with a lot of activities in day time, night life rules.

Thanks, good to know. I don't think we are likely to stay in a city, other than for a night or two to visit, definitely more about the chilled experience than night life. I am more of a beach party person than nightclub. I found this place which we might check out.

I had thought about booking a month but I am concerned it is not going to meet expectations, so we were thinking the best thing would be to book a place for a couple of nights so we can have a look for something we like/fits our needs. Then book for a longer stay. Have a look for somewhere else we like during that time and then move on.

Looking at flight prices, we will most likely go for the full 45 days allowance.

We're across in Feb into Bangkok for a few days then 2 weeks to Vietnam.back then via Thailand and we might add a week in Koh Samui.

Nice. We were looking at Koh Samui as well. It is a shame that the reason I first heard of it was when Shane Warne died. That aside, it looks very nice.

Wow, that looks stunning. Have you been? What is the internet/connectivity like? Definitely on my list for a week or two if I can get decent internet.

Edit: Just looked at it a bit more. Island not too far down from Koh Lanta, which means we should be able to get to it fairly easily. Will checkout accommodation prices.

Try Akira Lipe Resort or Anda Resort.

But I don’t think now is the good time for the beach in Thailand or Asean in general. November - March is moonsoon / raining season.

Jan-Feb is high season with lowest rainfall, Dec and Mar is OK but not as good, the rest is wetter.

I happen to visit Thailand couple times a year. Please avoid the most touristish routes. Don't be a typical white dude.

But the island you are talking about already sounds interesting.

We are looking for decent beach, swimming, friendly people, good places to work out of each day, safe and clean. Had a good look at most places and think that basing ourselves out of Koh Lanta is a good place to start.
