I've been using the baby plan for around 2 years now, running over 20 sites within with no problems at all, the avg daily u.v is around 10k for them all combined and its ok, I uploaded too many files (around 12GB) as well, and it been ok too
About 8-10 months ago, I uploaded a custom coded website which coded really bad and made huge load on the server, 2 days later I was asked to remove it and I did
If your websites are clean and programmed well (simple HTML or WP) then you are OK, otherwise, you need to ensure they won't make a heavy load on the server or you wouldn't be allowed to run them there
hope this helps you, happy xmas mate :)

hostgator is great and always provides me with excellent support with - running on smallest reseller pack (I think this is needed for running multiple domain names stand-alone - not as a sub-directory under main domain (seo thing but maybe not necessary). Also they they have good setups technically for php sites and more. Also run 10K uv's daily and servers don't blink.

Two big thumbs up for hostgator!

I have had no problems with hostgator, though I found out when I upgraded to a reseller account for the purpose of buying additional c-class IPs that the server had none left (I probably should have checked first). As far as uptime though and site speed, things have been great. Having Cpanel is of course very nice.

if your using Host Gator for the Email part. I can tell you that 95% are INBOX but u need to stay under the 250 sending limit. I ran over once and they closed my account. I was able to get a new domain/email rather quickly. So Other then the speed limit, Ive had no problems with Host Gator at all

Usually Hostgator bans you for spamming, and of course keeping between 450-500 emails/hour is recommended!

But if you send spam emails to users, and one of them reports you to hostgator, they will shut down your account immediately, as they have zero tolerance for spam, and it will be hard to take your account back, even if you explain it to support and their staff!

For Emailing, I find offshore hosts to be more tolerant, but their INBOX success rate is way too lower than Hostgator, maybe because HG has been in business for years, and their servers are more trusted and usually bypass a lot of filters!

One thing about hostgator I found out too late and after many headaches is that it does NOT allow email masking/relay through your email accounts you create on your hosted domains.
