Another 30 Day Challenge

For some random reason I've decided to put myself to a 30 Day Challenge (like Chris did a few months ago, which was the inspiration for me to give it a go). My current streams of IM income are dwindling due to a number of reasons (CL crackdowns over the past year, seasonality of my primary niche, having to make changes to prevent copyright infringement on my sites, etc, etc). In addition, the recent shocks to the economy made me reevaluate my situation and decide to come up with ways to put my eggs into a few extra baskets, so to speak. I may or may not put up a blog (at least a blog that I will be posting my thoughts on this experiment), but will definitely post on this thread.

The Goal:

To create 5 streams of income each producing $50 / day. This comes out to about $7.5K a month, give or take. Although it sounds like a lot, I don't think that this number is completely unreachable in 30 days. We'll see.

Why?

Who knows - boredeom, ego, a chance to connect with like-minded individuals - as long as the bills are paid, my wife doesn't care about how the sausage gets made, so to speak.

Who am I?

I don't want to discuss my day job (middle management in Corporate America), but I have been marketing online for about a year. I started because I had a lot of books I wanted to sell, and found that Amazon books was a great place to get rid of them. I then became an Amazon affiliate, moved to direct linking to Amazon via Google PPC (I actually made a small amount of money doing this), then on to greener pastures. My undergraduate degree is in computer science, and even though I don't do it much I'm still a decent developer (mostly .NET; not too much web programming). I've done CL, PPC, CPA, Affiliate sales (like CB), Amazon, EPN, and probably a few other things, with varying amounts of success (or failure), and in a lot of areas (keyword tracking, profitable list building) I certainly have a lot to learn.

What am I going to do?

Again, who knows? Like every marketer, I have more ideas than time. This will give me a chance to kick start a handful of methods that I've been sitting on. I'll discuss a bit of what I'm doing, but don't want to inspire too many copycats too quickly. Fortunately, I have a fair amount of resources, so if I decide on a certain approach I can commit money and time to it. Time is my biggest constraint (job, family, etc), so approaches that scale are key. I prefer white hat over black hat, but will likely tackle projects at both ends of the spectrum.

I really don't know where this is going to go. I may get tired of trying to obtain an admittedly lofty goal, at least publicly. Climb in and hang on!

Great ambitous goal you have...7.5k to me is huge and especially to the 3rd world countries...they can become a Millionaire and live with a LUXURY live....

my sincere all the best to your goals....

Cheers

Peter :)

Great post and a very inspiring one at that. There's so many ways to make money online that it's hard to focus sometimes. Great work and good luck.

Keep us posted!

Singapore considered 3rd world country meh?

Yah... Would love to have 7.5k a month...

Will that be in auto pilot?

Go For It edc! Will be rootin' for ya!

My first project is a CL / BANS project. I've done lots of this before, but this one will have a twist, and be short term. Stay tuned...

the logistics of handling a 30DC are huge but achievable. I was part of Ed Dale's 30DC this august and it was great..

The beauty of the program is that , it makes you take action. Implement the things instead of wandering.

appreciate your initiative. But from your post, i have to ask you few questions.

1. You said 5 streams , do you have these methods already in mind ?? or you are inviting a discussion?

2. How are you going to train, prepare the plan for the 30dc.?

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO MAKE IT A SUCCESS IS "PLANNING"

spill your ideas here.. there are lot of people here who will like the idea..

Consider me in already.:)

Congrats, edc. You are correct, when I did it (I'm the "Chris" he's referring to), it was huge motivation to get off my ass and make some things happen.

I am saying congrats already because committing yourself to a course of action is the first big step.

As it turns out, I was recently 'downsized' anyway, so it's a good thing I got some things in motion. My blog (see my sig) has been a big part of it.

Good luck!

Good luck on the challenge. Keep me updated. I am interested. I sometimes do little things like this in my head to keep me motivated.

Thanks to all for the kind words.

Chris (Monty) - thanks again for the inspiration.

Red1eaf - I have some projects in mind, and am planning / implementing them one by one. The first few are a few content web sites, building a double opt-in email list around a particular niche, various forms of *fully automating* some CL marketing, and an eBay bid sniper, to start. I may also package up my CL experience as a product. It would likely be a cheap ebook that would outline the things that I did that I don't think are common knowledge (because I haven't seen anyone talk about them, or because some common CL posting 'knowledge' is plain misinformation).

Non-legacy simply means that they were set up this month, as part of this challenge.

An update:

In October I averaged $160 / day, and in November I averaged $120 / day (pretty much on autopilot). So far this month, I have no new income streams set up, although there are a handful of projects in the works (total income for Dec - a measly $80 for the first and second). As always, I'm working on more things at one time than I should, but they will all work out. The only drawback is that it prevents me from focusing on generating some quick cash, but I'm trying to get away from that anyway. No pain, no gain.

So far, I am putting together a product (under wraps for now), running some CL campaigns, and building my e*Bay sniper. I have a prototype of the sniper working, but to turn this into a commercial / enterprise system there are some tech challenges that I need to iron out (if you understand C#, Windows service development, and mshtml, I'll be happy to discuss the gory details), as well as build the site for people to use it. I've actually though of making it a web service and opening access to other marketers. We'll see. Once this is a little closer, I'll open a thread in the e*Bay forum.

That's it for now.

Good luck man. I know what its like with a full time day job, kids, wife, and home responsibilities. I barely have time to do the stuff I love.

I believe if anyone have passion and dedication to do something, today or tomorrow he can do that.

Wish u all the best and I will also looking forward to see the result.

Thank you for the inspiring post! I needed something like this to get my mind around the millions of ideas swarming in my head.

I am afraid of jumping in and starting for fear of not grasping what is in front of me.

I wish you all the luck and enjoyed reading your updates. I hope to have as much success as you.

Ah, I too have many projects backed up. Probably more than you could imagine (or maybe not???). I'm talking thousands of pages in my ideas, documentation, program design, webdesign, research, encryption modules, conceptual work, inventions, this goes on for a while.

TIME is my battle. There really is just not enough time in the day and mandatory sleep gets in the way. Grr.

Good luck with your ambitions. If your interested in some JV work maybe we could set something up. Of course this requires you spelling out an outline of your thoughts so I can see if we mesh up somewhere.

Note: I'm not asking you to reveal ideas or anything "unique" per-say
. Just a little fish bite if and or where possible. You might also find others who might be equally or more qualified as a JV partner.

Sounds like your still getting stuck in the CL world. If your going to diversify jump into some other streams. There are already a lot of free ebay snipers. Unless you have a unheard of feature to add I wouldn't really mess with that project.

I'm on a similar 30 day plan and I have had to force myself to try other things b/c I was once CL's bitch too :)

Good luck, we're all rooting for ya
