I was using anonymous paid proxies for creating some email accounts at some website (not yahoo or hotmail or gmail)
so I set up the proxy in firefox, went to tools-on.net to check to make sure they are truly anonymous. This website has a privacy checker that shows you everything they know about your computer, including your system time, your ip, etc.
    proxy passed all the tests.

Then I created a couple of email accounts. after creating my third one, it said "you cannot create more. for security reasons, your ip address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx has been logged" and it was my real ip.

how did they see my real ip? maybe i didnt do something right?

Easy answer, the proxies you used were not real elites.

You probably use open proxies and not private ones. These are easily picked up by either of the following simple PHP global vars named:
    $_SERVER['HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR']
    $_SERVER['HTTP_X_FORWARDED_HOST']
    $_SERVER['HTTP_X_FORWARDED_SERVER']

    and there are more
