i took at bunch of photos using my iphone. uploaded to dropbox, downloaded to windows 2012.
from photo viewers or paint, they look fine, but when i uploaded them (using followliker) to instagram, some of them would rotate 90 degrees to the left. they also show the rotation in gramblr before upload. all photos were taken as portrait.

anybody knows how i can know the orientation before uploading? how the hell is this happening?

are you using the right instagram ratio?
this seems really, really strange. try clearing out exif metadata and see if it helps.

i think i figured it out. its because the photo size is over the limit of 2048x2048.

yeah, I'd suggest either using 640x640px or 1080x1080px this way you won't run into trouble. I still prefer the square format rather than that new portrait or landscape mode instagram uses, you can't go wrong with squarepics since it all began with 'em.
