[Announcement] Introducing: The New BHW

I don't know. I know this has a "sleeker/cleaner" feel and look to it but there was something nostalgic about the BHW Black and Yellow. Maybe it's because I'm an old head that's been here for a while but this new style doesn't feel very BHW-ish at all. I think I get what the objective was, I just don't know that it was something anyone was clamoring for. The old school design with the black and yellow was practically part of the BHW branding imo. Lol. It'd be nice to have an option between the 2 styles but I recognize that's probably not very conducive resource-wise.

EDIT: As I look through this I notice more that I hate and not much I like. I do like the position of the profile/user info. But why remove ratings? Please don't tell me you're going YouTube on us like when they removed the dislikes for obvious powder puff snowflakey reasons and politics. You guys are already getting a bad rep due to the obvious bias you've shown towards making a dollar over integrity of your marketplace. I'm just a person who loves BHW and misses the old BHW. Call me ol skool I guess... but if something isn't broken you don't need to fix it.

Passed 30 mins and couldnt edit so adding here.

The hover wasn't obvious to me. Maybe Im an idiot, possible. But I think it's bad UX. I like the hover for additional info but think a users reputation should not be a level deeper than where it was.
 
Beyond the hideous colours, and the fact we can't revert to previous design.

A bigger issue is that the text creates a weird lagging effect when scrolling. hurts the eyes, need an option to have standard black background white text.

If it doesn't change I'll spend less time here and I'm sure a mod or two will miss me
 
Some more small changes coming soon.

1. The user pill is changing based upon the feedback to be more in keeping with the rest of the items.

2. The user pill will expand more consistently with username's of varying lengths.

3. Various small bug fixes we have noticed internally.

Not if you're picking and choosing selectively. I think a poll is a great way to see the overall opinion of the new design/UX. This response kinda sounds like "We only want to make edits and will pick and choose what we think is constructive"
 
i was wondering - unless im missing something , on the old layout
we could collapse certain forum categories we had no interest in.
now i see no way to minimize those forum categories down from here
all categories remain fully open https://www.blackhatworld.com/forums/

You can't ask them to make a poll where this design would get smashed to the nirvana by the community

Yeah they really should've created mock ups of this before going live. Idk wtf is going on here anymore...
 
simple solution is offer people a CHOICE where they can
select on there account, the old version b4 the update
or the new layout after the update. problem solved.
im use to the old layout after using it 17 yrs - but thats
personal choice .
 
Retro look feels not so BHW.
Maybe will need sometime to adjust to this change.

Sure. Here in this thread you can read the suggestions, however, many people will not write anything because, for example, they are lazy and do not want to write anything. Maybe instead a simple poll with a Yes or No will encourage more people to express their likes or dislikes with the changes. These are two different approaches to measuring people's opinions.

Majority of those who is "liking" the new design are actually forcing themselves to like. You know in the office how you always have to reluctantly "LIKE" and follow whatever the boss or seniors says haha.

See, it's not about new design or old design. It's about dull (which is this design) compared to cool and appealing to the eyes (which was the yellow and black combination).

People who prefer this color scheme over the yellow and black combination seriously needs to get eyes checked.

Still wondering if the developer even confirmed the design with the admins before finalizing?
