(CNN) -- A man angry that a family was talking during a movie threw popcorn at the son and then shot the father in the arm, according to police in
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

James Joseph Cialella was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and weapons charges.

James Joseph Cialella, 29, was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and weapons violations, a police report said.

Cialella told the family sitting in front of him in the theater on Christmas Day
to be quiet, police said.

An argument ensued while others at the Riverview Movie Theatre watched "The
Curious Case of Benjamin Button," starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett, The
Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

Cialella then approached the family from the left side of the aisle and shot the
father, who was not identified, as he was standing between Cialella and his
family, according to the police report.

The victim was taken to Jefferson Hospital with a gunshot wound to his left arm, police said.

Cialella was carrying a Kel-Tec .380-caliber handgun clipped inside his
sweatpants, police said. He was arrested and taken into custody.

thats that bullshit people cant even watch movies peacefully now wow

there are many people did not switch off their mobile phones and cause disturbance to other people...peace is still along way to go

Yea that is crazy... I remember a year or two a go a guy near me shot 4 of his neighbors because they where shooting fire works. Was big national news because he was a firefighter.

what a moron, now he gets to spend many years in jail over a loud talker....glad this asshat is in jail.

OMFG! That man has no patient in his head. LOL.

If I were that Cialella, I might throw my popcorn to their mouth one by one, and go out, and told the security there, that they have been too noisy.

This guys must be the stupidest guy ever! He better be ready to survive in prison now!

'...Only in the United States of America, potentially the greatest country on earth, (it isn't)...if there weren't so many f*cked up people living there'.

lol you people act like this stuff can never happen to you, it just takes one mental moment, it's stupid, though. I wonder what i'm gonna do the day i flip.

I once to a loud noisy guy that if he didn't quiet down so we could hear the movie that I would shove his head through the wall.

He shut up.

Yes it is! Well what do you know about him? I've benefited from his sciences, great man. ;)

By the time I was twelve, I had read every sci-fi novel that he had written and was working on the rest of his stuff.

I actually own an autographed first edition of "War Of The Worlds".

Yes, you can tell this man was a brilliant writer, when it was performed as a radio drama it convinced many people that is was real, they got their guns ready and reports even said many people committed suicide thinking the Earth was really being invaded. Studying metaphysics you could learn alot from him :)... good man! Although I've been studying him for a long time, I recently got some of his books in hard cover, got it myself for xmas :) You must be lucky.

If I had a gun I probably would of done that too, I hate inconsiderate people like that.

Hopefully this man can spend the rest of his life in prison understanding what he's done :) - the world doesn't need people who enter Movie Theater's with guns, whatever ill intention he had shouldn't have been brought into such an environment in the first place. Blame poor security? Yes.

One time when my father took my mother to a movie
the guy in the back seat kept putting his feet up on the
back of their chairs.

My father told him to move his feet, the guy said "piss off!"
and then it got physical. But no guns were used...

Nowadays nobody wants to get up close and personal. :D

found the book at a library sale and got the sig verified by an autograph service.

Paid USD 5 for the book.

I have the 1938 radio play on CD and vinyl.

Here is an interesting one for you; one of those things that always happens to someone else.

About 30 years ago a buddy in Las Vegas told me to fly out for the weekend, so I got one of those $99 casino round-trip flights.

Guy says there's going to be a lot of people at the party he was having, so I thought it would be cool.

He had bought this old Spanish style mansion back in the 60s when houses were still cheap there and it was actually out in the country on a dirt road.

I was indeed quite a party and there were lots of people there, for sure and I noticed this very large bearded man, dressed in black, smoking a cigar and holding a glass with about five fingers of Scotch in it...................

Yep; you guessed it.

Orson fucking Welles.

Mr. Welles was his neighbour and my buddy had done some kind of technical support on one of Welles' films.

I drank with Orson Welles.

I didn't keep up with him but I tried!

Unforgettable.
