Just take a look at the FarmVille niche, go google "farmville cheats" and the first result will be a free .co.cc domain name.

1,520,000 without quotes in not as well, and all those .biz, .net are still on second page, first page is dominated by Web 2.0 properties.

No blatent spider scaring affiliate links, some half decent content and 559 backlinks. Job done. Google has said previously that the tld is not a big factor in fact I think they actually said that .infos should rank exactly the same as .coms with all other factors the same. I'm skeptical. If you are going to put the work in get a .com or localised domain.

How about no TLD at all, just a great content page on a free websource - ie. blogspot, wordpress.com

How will that effect the ranking?

    (Genuine question).

Wow...to see that a generic site, built on a free domain with only ~500 backlinks and using a google-unfriendly exit script can rank #1 for a relatively hot keyword is both encouraging and confusing at the same time.

She must be banking with those CB aff links boy I tell ya.
