And so the journey begins...

Ok, so a little update. After a lot of trial and error with my authors, a couple of jacked up books I basically had to re-write, and figuring out how everything works I finally just published my first book!!!!! I have two more to do tonight after work.

What I have learned thus far:
1) Always, Always, ALWAYS get a writing sample from the author. I learned that the hard way. If you don't, you will spend hours re-editing a book, and basically re-write it.
2) Do not pay someone $5 to do a cover. There is a cover builder on Amazon(it's in beta so it might not be available to every country) that is super easy to use, and looks just as good as those guys off fiverr. I did it on my own in 10-15 minutes. So can you.
3) There is no reason to buy KD Publishing Pro or any other formatting software. The Kindle guide tells you exactly how to do everything.
4) Do not get frustrated. After you learn how to do the first one, the rest will be cake.
5) Have fun reading the books!!!!!

I am super stoked about getting my first book up. I am going to start promoting it tonight on all the free sites to list books. Also, I will be adding a facebook page to the end of my book soon. I can finally see some progress with this journey after almost three weeks.

Alright, so I have three books published on Kindle now. The first one hit 75 free downloads in the first day. I did not do too much promotion either. Not too shabby.

The other two won't hit the free promotion period until about 3AM EST. Also, I will be uploading another later today. I created a Facebook Kindle fan page too. I plan on using it to promote my books, and also if any one else on here wants me to post their books on the page I will once it gets enough fans.

Well, I just put my fourth book online. It will hit the promo period at 3AM EST as usual. My other books are doing pretty well. One is getting around 200 free downloads/day with 0 promotion. So, that's good.

I ordered 4000 targeted likes for my Facebook page. So, hopefully that will work out, and give me a new avenue for promoting my books. I also hired a new writer, and I'm just waiting for more books to come in. I've also been putting more effort into researching categories, and keywords. I hope this will help me get more downloads in the future.

46 books to go

So, a little update for anyone still reading. I have four books up for sale. They went up for sale on Tuesday. I've sold 32 so far. Not too bad, but one has sold 0 haha Romance is a tough niche to crack. I'm also experimenting with a pricing strategy. So, we will see how it goes. I'm hoping my two stronger sellers get some traction and get into the best sellers list.

i also have two books ready to go up. One is a second book in a series from my strongest seller. So, I'm sure it will do pretty well, and I will put my link to the first book so hopefully I will get some more sales after I launch it. The other is a completely new genre that I think will do well, but we will see. I am in the National Guard and at drill this weekend. So, I won't be able to upload them until Monday.
