Hey guys, I need help regarding anchor text for long tail keywords to use when building backlinks.
Example: My main keyword for one of articles on my main site is "what causes kidney stones in women"
So when I get backlinks from web 2.0 properties or other sources, what anchor text would be better; "what causes kidney stones in women" that I'm targeting or just "kidney stone causes" or similar keywords that are not my targeted keywords?

Of course it's important to vary anchor text to prevent from Google spam filter.
So, can I use my main long tail keyword "what causes kidney stones in women" on authority web 2.0 properties and then "kidney stone causes" or similar keywords on less important sites like articles directories etc for anchor text variation to prevent from Google spam filter?

    I'd appreciate your help.
    Thanks in advance.

well to target a keyword, you obviously need to have it as your anchor text. Like you said, it is important to use a number of different keywords, to answer your question, sure you can do that but dont make it too obvious.

You can use the exact keyword in anchor text. This would help alot. You don't need to vary very much the anchor text as long as you don't abuse it.

    Hi Fab,

short answer is - no one knows. There are too many variables when it comes to G decide where should your site fit. You will find out that lots of people will recommend 80% exact anchor plus another 20% lsi. It sound reasonable enough to me.

P.S In " Backlink Hydra" by Terry Kyle, he would strongly advise NOT to vary anchor at all, but in recent findings Terry admits that a lot of top ranked sites will have " exact keyword " anchor of about 50%...So you see it all depends.

    Hope that helps a bit.
