I have been on the first page for this KW for a few months, after the new Panda update I got knocked to page 2, #15 and replaced with some of the most ridiculous sites ever....here is a breakdown...

    1. Company site
    2. Company site
    3. EMD with 60 backlinks, not much anchor diversity at all, 5 badly written posts on homepage, no ads anywhere
    4. Acai berry site, with a page that has KW (note that acai berry has nothing to do with this niche), blasted with hundreds of shady backlinks (ALN, xrumer, blog comments) using several different anchors, about 25% KW, 25% partial KW, 25% KW bolded
    5. Digg.com post from an .insite, 0 backlinks, now this is the strangest one of all. Somebody used yahoo answers to post an answer with their link then bookmarked it on an Indian bookmarking site, then Bookmarked that bookmark on Digg. So maybe money site >> yahoo answers >> bookmark >> bookmark works well now? I don't even see how a digg post with 0 backlinks is anywhere near the top results but let's keep moving.
    6. Wordpress.com site, again 5 badly written posts on home page, no ads anywhere, 6 backlinks total!
    7. Niche site, very professional looking, about 1k backlinks with diverse anchors, this site should be somewhere in top 3 spots in my opinion
    8. Blogspot blog, again 5 terribly spun posts on homepage, no ads anywhere, 1 backlink total
    9. RetailmeNot - 200k backlinks, no surprise here really since it's a big authority site
    10. Now for the best part, an edublogs (web 2.0) article that I posted 2 weeks ago, it has 26 backlinks from ALN lol

My site is #15 after that latest panda update (was bouncing around #3-4 previously), it is 1 year old and has 330 backlinks that are mainly KW1 or KW2 (not much anchor diversity). I noticed a lot of sites on page #1 were using a pretty high ratio of the actual URL as anchor text so my plan is to add a few of those to see if I can get my ranking back.

I still can't believe the freaking digg post is #5!!

Summary of results: Google is now fond of badly spun web 2.0 posts/sites with very few backlinks and sites with high anchor diversity. I hope they are happy now! [IMG]

I feel you. I got hit really hard by the new update and I've been formulating some strategies to get back to the top. Making some quality web 2.0 and articles in the next while then blasting the hell out of them to see how that goes. Quantity has been rendered useless ;(.

Yeah, the rankings are kind of messed up right now...things have to settle down before they get better...

I have been building an authority website and I really have to step this up...I need to add ten quality blog posts per day and get my page count up to a few thousand pages...

I'm not saying this will rank everyone, but in my niche this seems to help as the sites on the first page are all authority sites...

I haven't been hit too hard by Panda, but because of your post, I went and had a look, and the site above mine in the serps right now is a twitter tweet (not even an account!)

    You just gotta laugh...

I have to agree with all this. Those of my pages that did drop from top 3 rankings, were replaced by mostly very thin MFA sites, with header heavy ad placement and overall terrible design. The content isn't even that good either.

My pages were in the top 3 for months, getting consistent facebook likes and social shares, exactly what Google says they want in terms of natural backlinking. I guess that's not the case.

I posted something similar in VIP. Not that my site got knocked down, but there's some real horse shit in the top 10.

I hvae a feeling Google is just doing some testing right now and things will even out in the next couple weeks.

I have dropshipping sites with 0 backlinks ranking higher than my sites. Are you kidding me Google? How does a dropshipping site which no one has linked to rank higher than my ultra high quality site?

I just noticed on one of my keywords that the domain ----------.net has surpassed me to the number four spot without any backlinks just by having the keyword in the url. This domain is not even two months old.

Same thing happened to one of my domain as well.

Just checked "Links to your site" in Google Webmaster Tools. It all of a sudden says "No data available." Any one else see that? Maybe Google is updating and calculating a lot of things again.

I have actually not seen one change in my SERPS yet. They have all stayed relatively the same.

Didn't think the new panda hit yet? Still HUGE changes to come I assume.

The new backlink change has me very interested, and I cannot wait to get that change over with to see what the future will bring us.

Glad I'm not the only one, hopefully things will settle down soon because none of this makes sense.

The irony in this for me is that my highest quality site with lots of unique well written content has been dropping in SERPs since the last update. Just goes to show you that Google doesn't know WTF they're doing.
