An SEO sales web guy is asking for access to my Google Analytics so that he can "report back to me" with how he can help. I know it is just a sales tactic, etc., but is there any harm in doing this? It would be giving him access to view only- NOT giving him login details

What should I say if you think I should tell him no?

thanks for your help

Tell him jon_xx_x said fuck off. Make sure you don't forget the underscores. In most cases it shouldn't be a big deal but it isn't information some average joe should have access to.

He can't do any harm to your website if he has access to Google analytics. He can harm your website if he get access to the Webmaster tools. He can't see the backlinks from analytics. He can only see the keywords for which u r getting visitors, sources of visits, country, landing pages etc data. Still, u should give access to analytics only someone trustworthy. If u have worked with this guy for sometime, or if he has a good reputation/portfolio, then u can give him access.

What is he trying to do? If he's going to use it for creating a proposal, then ask him to use 3rd party tools for reference. SEMrush, Majestic, etc.

If you aren't interested in hiring the guy then don't bother. He may provide you with a free report or he may pass on the information to your competitor. Not worth it.

I think it's commendable that he's willing to dive in to your analytics to give you an accurate quote. Most people would just quote you some rubbish that wouldn't help you because it's easier. Give him access. Who cares.
