My website content projects are just that, projects. My most developed website is a high quality content website in the Health and Nutrition niche. Im not going to say the keyword in this case but lets just use: Exercise since my word is equivalent in strength. Well long story short, one of my articles has an image that is there (not my image, but I did put the source right under the image) and for this strong keyword it seems my image linking to my website is now in the first 10 G Image results.

Is this something I should be excited for? Is this short lived? Would it be smart for me to go back to that article and work on monetization on the page? I don't want to do anything to jeopardize my website as it's a pure white hat project so I don't want to have this link redirect to an offer or any of that which might hurt my website in G's eyes.

    Looking forward to feedback.

It's only helpful in case your website is an image website. It surely will give you some visitors.
Otherwise it's of no use because only 5% of the users visiting that image will be coming to the content part.Rest will copy the image and leave instantly.

It can be good, I had an image ranked for the keyword "christmas" and every year I would get £500-1000 around Christmas time from Adsense on the page where the image was displayed. If you're not monetizing via ads right now, maybe you should add one or two. I think ads work better than affiliate/sales for this kind of traffic.

I'd be interested in knowing where you got the 5% statistic from...

At point I was in the top 10 for "cash" and "cash advance" in the image search

I got a lot of views on the "cash" image

    I don't think I made a dime off it

Actually I used to have a website from which a few images ranked for some good keywords.
But a very few of those visitors used to have more then 1 page view...

If you want to make a lot of cash install one of those scripts where when people view the image on Google Images an overlay saying "Visit Site For Full Resolution" appears over it obscuring the image.

Come to think of it, that might be something Goofle does when the images are very large in size.
