how to interpret these numbers ? you'd think a domain with non existent trust flow shouldn't have these stats on Ahref and Moz...

Both Ahrefs and Majestic work differently. These metrics are just numbers relevant as a filter. Whether you want the domain or not, depends mostly on the backlinks and a few other metrics.
Once you have 15 posts, send me a PM with the domain and I can help you out with that. Also, if it was for PBN purposes, I can send you a better one for free.

It's probably been spammed if it's got 0 TF and majestic is showing a reasonable number of links.

Check out a few of the links majestic/ahrefs show. If they look spammy it's probably not a good domain.

The thing to remember is that a lot of these numbers are made up. We all use them, and they are the best that we have, but they are all made up either by moz, ahrefs or majestics. It could very well be that this domain is spammed, or artificially increased it's rankings.

For all the newbies out there (and also experienced ones at times) who try to correlate Majestic, Moz and Ahrefs, I would like to remind you that these are THREE DIFFERENT LINK CRAWLERS. And none of the link crawlers are perfect. These go on crawling for backlinks all over the internet. And the internet is not a small place with a few websites. So, one might manage to crawl and index a definite set of links and others might index a different one. And they have common backlinks within them.

From my experience as an expired domain seller(and also an expired web 2.0 seller though I do not check TF, CF, Ahrefs etc. for expired Web 2.0s) for a relatively long time, I can say that the three link crawlers i.e. Moz, Ahrefs and Majestic almost NEVER index the same set of backlinks. For example, I grabbed a BBC, Wikipedia etc. backlink domain just yesterday with all good stats and while Moz did not show up either the BBC or the Wikipedia backlink (it showed up a lot of others and so, the DA PA was still very good), Majestic showed up the BBC backlink but not the Wikipeidia one. It is Ahrefs which showed up both the backlinks as well as a lot of others.

I work on expired domains nearly everyday (maybe lesser nowadays as I am still recovering from a surgery I went through last month) for a very long time. And in almost every case, Ahrefs indexes the most backlinks followed by Majestic and Moz detects the least backlinks out of the three.

But please note that it is not guaranteed and sometimes, I also notice Moz detecting links which others fail to find. So, do not only depend on these combinations for finding good domains. And there are numerous times when I find domains with backlinks from CNN, BBC etc. which are not detected by either of the three link crawlers. Stats matter mainly for sellers like me as that is what the expired domain customers understand. But if you are finding domains for your own PBNs, try to check the quality of backlinks individually instead rather than just going by the Moz, Majestic or Ahrefs numbers.

And make sure the domains are spam and pass through all checks before going ahead. In addition I try to steer away from anything Chinese or weird looking history or anchor texts (European is fine), any previous link banks or link directories, anything containing cheap handbags, shoes or weird looking anchor texts, comment backlinks, previous PBN etc. There are a lot of checks to be done and you would identify spammy domains almost instantly with time. Try to go for contextual backlinks whenever possible.

One more rule. Perfect combinations are not always found. So, there might be the need of slight compromise here and there (no compromise on Chinese spam etc.)

I agree with others that it is hard to draw a conclusion from 3 different trackers having 3 different formulas. It is also possible that Majestic has been blocked from crawling (but weird given Ahrefs and Moz are not).

If you are picking up domains for PBN purposes, might be better to find a different one given the possibility it might become a weak link in your network.

Check the backlinks of that domain, see where it is linking to in your domain and with what anchor text. This will give you a fair idea about the domain quality.

I'm seeing this a lot. TF sometime nills for idle domains, even ones with lot of great backlinks. But in most cases TF gets back soon after you build the site again.
