So I've decided to revive this dead journey thread with a similar idea I currently have.
What happened to this thread?
If you're wondering what happened to my e-commerce store, I made about $1k in total sales but Paypal decided to limit my account. Most of the money I made was in the Paypal account so I desperately needed this money to continue my store. They required a picture of my ID to reactivate the account. I wasn't 18 at the time so I purchased a photoshopped ID and submitted that. I waited a few weeks and they finally got back to me telling me that my funds in the account would be released in 6 months... So I ended up closing up shop.
Why am I reviving this thread?
Recently, I've heard a lot of people saying that it's too difficult to grow on Instagram nowadays and it's not worth it. I want to disprove this statement by growing an account from the ground up in a reasonable amount of time. So, I found a new niche that I find interesting and created a brand new account today that I'll be growing manually without spending any money and documenting my journey on this thread. Once I get the account to 30-50k followers, I'll open up a new e-commerce shop and document that as well.
How will I grow this new account?
My plan for growing this Instagram account is through manual follow unfollow. Since the amount of people I can follow per day is limited, I'll be optimizing the people I target. I'll use 3-5 "scraping" accounts that follows people in my niche. Then I'll use my main account to target the people that followed those 3-5 accounts back. This way my follow back ratio will be very high and will lead to quicker growth.
Once I get to around 1,000 followers, I'll start doing hashtag research for posts to get some organic followers. At around 15k followers, I'll stop follow unfollow and solely focus on posting viral content + good hashtags.

Sidenote regarding Instagram growth.
In the beginning of February, only two months ago, I decided to revive my old Instagram account that I had used for this e-commerce journey (it had 30k followers). After posting on it consistently again and engaging with followers, it is now currently at 53.5k followers. So about 20k followers in two months which is great growth, especially for the niche I am in.
