I was wondering if anyone knows roughly how many links you need to get a certain pr.

For example, if i wanted to get say a PR 6, how many backlinks would you need from PR 5 sites? Or PR4?

I can't really explain, but im sure i saw something like this somewhere, please help.

I don't think anyone will be able to answer that. It's never that exact of a science.

yeah no answer to this, its also not just link juice that plays a part in PR.

Ok, thanks for the replies. Is their not even a very rough amount needed?

Because i'm really confused, I have 2 sites that have got PR 4 and 5, and they don't have hardly any backlinks to them.

Some people have really good quality blacklinks and don't even have PR3.

What else plays a part in PR then?

Google some times plays hot and cold with you..
With high pr , check domain age...and as far as building a page rank...which is something even i am trying to do...Build links from pages with high pr .
to get a page rank of 2-3 , i think 40 -100 pr 6 links is needed.but any one who can build these links wont outsource...otherwise it will get spammed the hell off...
But if you building a page rank of 6 ...i am not sure why you want that...as high pr doesnt mean lots of traffic...at the end of the day..its just a number assigned to you by google....and it doesnt get you more sales...but reputation yeah...

Thats true, when i first start IM ages ago, i thought getting high PR is the most important thing i should be doing. But it makes no difference. The only reason i want to know is because im wondering why and how i got PR 4 and 5 on my websites with literrally about 40 backlinks (not even high PR), and the domains registered just over 1 year.

Also i am starting to sell websites and good pr on the websites makes the price go up :D

Learn about logarithms and you'll get a general idea of how to target. This is definitely a quality beats quantity thing...

I dont think there is a rule but once upon a time I got 6000 backlinks using:

a. referrer spam
b. profile links
c. PAD file submission links

I reached PR 6 in 10 months.

I have no idea what that would do today.

My PR8 has somewhere on the order of 300K-500K backlinks... all of them are legit and totally organic... but it took 20 years...

For PR2 you need 100PR1 or 18PR2 or 3PR3

PR3 500PR1 100PR2 18PR3 3PR4

PR6 92414PR1 16803PR2 3055PR3 555PR4 101PR5 18PR6 3PR7

Based on the assumption that the page with your link has not more than 10 OBLs to external sites.

This means also, 2-3 PR3 links can get you the same PR3 if your link is the only one on the page in question.
