This thought has come to me more than often that, I was born in the wrong country.
America is a wonderful place- It?s a land of opportunity or rather opportunity. Why? But of course, Where did Microsoft come from and with it Bill Gates. Where Apple came from and Steve jobs. Moreover, look at Facebook at its creator (forgot his name. lol). And look at justin beiber (I know most of you will hate him) I can go on and on about this, really.

Now I am not saying that these people were just lucky and no talent! These guys had talents and ideas, these ideas came to life because of the support and ideology of the American people. The country where I live never supports individuality, everyone is supposed what is hip in the local society, so many restrictions whether be it internet freedom or freedom of speech, high taxes and rampant corruption and red-tapism ( I am not saying that all these high taxes and corruption doesn?t exist in America but it?s quite mild compared to my country)

I love my country and always love it as I was born here. But I would like to live in America and bring better prospects to my present and future. As of now, its not possible for be to get a visa and come to America as skilled worker. But I will visit America at least once in my lifetime.

So friends in IM, don't worry about what will happen, focus on what your best at, and give your 110%, Success will follow your footsteps

    Thanks

    Long Live America

It is people like you that would be welcomed here. The ones with drive and a work ethic. My grandparents and their children (my dad included) came to America in 1957 and they all did well. My uncle was 16 and did not speak any english, now he is retired with millions in the bank and property. He got it by working hard and not giving up.

It is a country where you are rewarded for ingenuity. This is because you also have the freedom to fail and start over.

Shame you have a currency that will soon not be worth anything (fact).

Over here (EU, Holland), me and everyone i know, really HATE the fact almost all companies pay out in US $, it's a sinking ship. And it probably won't take to long either..

I just got back from my first trip to USA on Tues - spent a week in NY! It's a fantastic city and of course a week doesn't give you a fraction of the time to explore that city. But still I had a great time.

So of course I don't have much in the way of first hand of experience, don't have any really since I was there on my holidays. But from what I've read and heard about the States, it is a country where great things can come to you if you have an idea and are prepared to do what it takes.

However, just like in the UK, where I live, it is a country of great extremes in wealth and opportunities. Imagine walking out of your hotel and having people asking you for money, being on the metro and people asking for money after delivering a sob story. Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking USA, as I said this happens in the UK plenty and you see people living on the streets plenty here too.

I suppose all I'm saying is that yes you need to have an idea, you need to work hard and do whatever it takes to be successful but you also have to have a level of luck!

Oh, and I can't wait to go back!

It's human nature to think the grass is greener somewhere else. The best thing about the U.S., and I'm first generation, is that if you really want it you can get a opportunity here but the rest is up to you! There's no guarantee of success here but at least you get to play!

Whether you love it or hate it, only in the USA can you walk in with breadcrumbs in your pocket, and walk out with a pot full of gold.

Yes there are more opportunities or should I say opportunities in more developed countries than there are in 2nd or 3rd world countries because of infrastructure and more support for people to become independent. But I believe with the internet everything/world is now on a more flatten level, meaning you do not have to be in the US to create wealth for yourself.

There are people from Russia, UK, China, South Africa, Singapore, Sweden, German, Pakistan, India making huge amounts of cash all thanks to the internet.

So your mind set might need a little adjusting and accept that you can make money from anywhere not just in US.

Don't let that be an excuse for you not to find success and wealth in your life!

funny, i've always strived to leave it. i suppose we each have our own grass, i will say having lived in the heart of the silicon valley my entire u.s. life, i love the food, music and weather, flat sidewalks, and having air conditioning but not needing it, oh yes, and we use our garages for storage because the weather is so good they dont need to be parked inside.

now, my air conditioner is a fan, when the electricity works, i couldn't get a decent hamburger at any price. did i mention they boil the patties here? crossing the street is like having a near death experience, and the noises, sirense, jack hammers, honking, wtf is up with all the honking.

shit, maybe i should re-patriate. i will say though, that to make it in america as a full time im'er you better be pretty good, at least if you want to live in the bay area, you can be a mediocre im'er in other countries and match a superb standard of living. except there are certain things that i just can't find elsewhere at any price :( like launrymats, I have to keep buying new clothes cause theres no laundrymats, i tried handwashing, but the clothes usually mildew before i remember to take them out of the soapy water.

    oh well . . .

Most American's are spoiled and just complain they retire not broke but in debt. I'm an imigrant have not worked for 10 years now make money online, and American's born in America a bunch of htem told it's imigrants like me why they are broke because I dont' pay taxes and steal their jobs. i pay taxes and employ Americans but. I think the founding fathers where incredible but todays american's many are just spoiled and dont realize how good they have it they just want a handout, not all but a bunch. I thank america for giving me financial freedom, but i just don't understan why majority is so broke and complaining i just don't get it

where do you live? If you live in asia, like india or hongkong or indonesia, actually the opportunity might be better rather than trying to have a successful live being an immigrant in the US. Of course, if you were born as american, i cant say the same thing. However, if you become an immigrant there with little money to start, it wont be easy.

In my country the opportunity has been always bigger for small business to strive. You just need to know how to play the game. Problem is, it's not that easy to get around all those mofos and get big project for your small business.

There are tons of state companies here willing to cooperate with you to corrupt people's tax. For example, they give you the banner project in digital printing business. The price for each billboard is, let's say $100. They will ask you to manipulate the bill, saying the price should be $400 then you and the director of that state company will split the money $200 and $200. Basically you get more than 100% profit and the corruptor will get $200 from each billboard. If you can't do this for them (manipulating the bill for them to stay away from investigation), then they would give the project to someone else. When you lobby these kind of people, you would be very rich, way above average workers here. problem is, if you can't lobby them, then most likely you cant ever get any project as everyone does this nowadays here. Even purchasing managers from big commercial companies do such "mark-ups" to their own owners. For example this manager tells you to create a website for his company.

The cost might be just $1000 but he would want you to mark it up to $10,000. He won't tell the owner the cost of your website is $1000, but $10,000, and you would manipulate the bill for him. It doesn't mean all big companies owners are stupid, they just don't give a damn as themselves are making way more money from their business. While state companies, as you know, are simply too corrupt. They probably only use 5% of our tax money to improve our general wealth. the rest 95%, they just share it between them and businessmen behind them. Hence why it's always a good deal dealing with state companies, even the small ones. Not easy though to lobby them as other people also try to get the piece of the pie.

Of course im not saying the same thing can't happen in the US, just that being an immigrant it would be way way harder to gain access to such people there. Also i think in advanced country like US it's harder to do this kind of business as corruption might be found only around high profile politicians. Whereas in 2nd or 3rd world countries, corruption happen from top to bottom which might be easier for you as your friends or your relatives might have access there. I've made several deals with these kind of dirty people, the amount of money wasnt very big though as we share it with a looot of people (considering im just a broker, not the service provider)

Doesn't mean without "manipulation" you cant be rich in US or even in your own country. Of course opportunities are always there but i think being an immigrant will be always harder. If you rely on your internet income, however, i cant say too much. :)

This thread is full of a lot of irresponsible flag waving. America is in a dire state at the moment. Without starting too much of a debate, America has found itself in an economic system that simply isn't working. We've gone beyond laissez faire into a type of corporate capitalism. This system is not working. I'm posting this from Detroit. Where its not uncommon to hear gunshots at night and where parts of this city look like parts of bombed out Iraq.

If you want to see the real America and experience what its like to be here, and all this "pocket full of gold" nonsense, I suggest you visit my city and walk around for a bit, but I suggest you carry a gun with you.
