Is there any idea of when its finally coming out? I'm getting close to just deciding to go with intel i5 7th gen series since it seems zen keeps getting pushed back. FX series is starting to get really old and being bested by i3's now. By the 9th gen of core series, i3 should even beat fx 8350 in multicore optimized gaming.

If zen is as good as they claim, its going to have to be in the $190 to $230 range for the 8core/16 thread version to make it worth getting.

I'm going to hold out a few more months, just in case. I've made a mistake a few years ago with rushing for pc stuff, and it ends bad.

You can't go wrong with Intel, just make sure you get a Skylake.

And don't forget to get an SSD. It's a must.

I think I'll be getting kaby lake which is sucessor to skylake. But if the performance of the final zen series is good enough and the price is $230 at max I'll get the amd zen. But I've been hearing some rumors that are claiming $600 to $750 range, and if that I might as well get the i7 6800k cpu.

SSD's are so much cheaper now(sub $.24 per GB now during sales), it has becomes more costly in time pretty fast to try to save money with a 7200 rpm 64MB HDD.

The high price rumours for the AMD chips could be for the high end / server chips. Zen will be including a number of different SKUs up to 32 core so you can't really guess what the price will be until they are officially announced.

I think they are due first half of 2017 which could be January or June.

One thing of note is that even though we could be just a few months away we have no idea how well it is really going to perform. I would imagine the 8 core will be in the range of an i5 so sub 200 to 300 range should be realistic.

The price rumors I saw where for the 8 core/16 thread zen gaming cpu, usually the server chips by amd are in the $x,xxx+ range.

It looks like Mid Jan at earliest and about $300.

    http://www.kitguru.net/components/cpu/matthew-wilson/rumour-amd-to-launch-zen-on-17th-jan-with-300-price-tag/

I'm going to go both AMD CPU and AMD GPU next year for my new PC. My last gaming PC's were AMD so I'll stay with them.
