    Hi guys,

Got a message today on my Amazon Associates account that before they can release my payment, they need my Tax Info.

I don't even live in the US, and I took a look at the process and it seems like you need to fill out a whole bunch of forms (and basically give them all your details, only short of a DNA sample) regardless if you are overseas or not.

Then you have to get some Tax Number from the IRS that declares yourself as a Foreign Entity. *sigh*

Anyway to get out of this? I HATE giving away all that info and hate paper work.

If you get paid in Amazon Gift Credit - do you need to give this tax info? Anyone know?

How do you other overseas guys feel about having to do all this?

Im not a US resident either but i haven't receive such request.
I've check my Tax information and its status is incomplete (i haven't fill out my tax information). But i still received my check every month. :)

Try to ignore that warning and check your payment history. If you will be able to see the "Payment by check" then they have send you your money. you just have to wait for it. :)

Might seem like a stupid question, but when you signed up did mistakenly put USA as your country. Might be worth going through your profile to check all is how it should be

They ask everyone to fill in a tax form. If you are a non-US resident it is a very quick painless process. You don't have to apply for TIN or anything special.
You have to do the same thing if you are selling on kindle or basically doing any kind of business with amazon.

I spoke to one of their customer service agent earlier and was told that now all associates are required to fill in the tax information. That goes for non-us residents too. Apparently I got it all sorted out. Just fill in the tax information. It's really a simple process. If you need any help, just go to their live chat. They will guide you through the application.

OP, I went to Amazon to fill in the form, and it took me 4 (four) minutes...If this is your first time filling in the form I understand that this is strange since you're not from USA (me 2), but that's a normal procedure when you're working with US companies.

    Again, 4 minutes.

I actually got the same message today but I AM in the US so I'm not really worried. Not near my $100 cash out yet so I'll just wait anyway.

I got the same message and after I filled out I got something like: you are subject to 30% withholding tax. Anyone got this? Does this mean they will take away 30% of the earning?

For U.S. tax purposes, are you a U.S. person?
    No

    Type of beneficial owner
    Individual

    Country Of Citizenship
    United Kingdom

Are you an agent acting as an intermediary?
I assume this means affiliate. So yes.

    ...............

    Form = W-8IMY

    Part 1

    Identification of Entity

    Name, country, etc, simple enough.

    Chapter 3 status:

"I'm an individual from the UK, acting as an affiliate for Amazon."
Nonqualified intermediary. Complete Part IV. = correct?

    Chapter 4 Status:

"Not applicable for me I believe?"

    Line 6:

    Enter address.

    Part IV
Nonqualified Intermediary: "Assuming I was correct selecting Nonqualified intermediary."

    Check 15a?

Am I on the right tracks with this, and is there any more check boxes I need to be aware of or things to fill in?
