Amazon Niche Sites really taking around 4-6 months before they rank?

I've previously ranked a couple of Amazon niche sites a year ago and they used to respond to links pretty well. I'm dealing with two new ones (2 months old) and they're not performing well and responding that much to links. I've read on a few niche site related blogs (like nichesiteazon.com) that it now takes around 4-6 months at least, before the site starts showing good rankings. Is this really true?

    Site 1:

    Site 2:

Site 1 is actually built on an expired domain, 100% niche-relevant and brandable, with existing links from around 30 domains, including Mashable and a ton of niche-relevant forums. TF was close to 20 when I acquired it. I had basically built the site and let it sit since last October, and started adding content and optimizing it and building links from only two months back. Site 2 is entirely brand new built on a new domain 2 months back. Both have really HQ content, some written by me, some by $2-4/100 words writers. Maybe 20K words on each site so far. Both of them have around 15 really HQ PBN links (avg TF30+, DA30+), 5 high-DA post links (rebelmouse, Kiwibox etc.) from a popular service here, 100% legit and manual comments.

On-page is as good as I could do, really. Categories are mostly no-indexed, author archives disabled, unnecessary footer links removed, standard unimportant pages (contact, privacy policy et. all) nofollowed in navigation menu, etc.

Should I give these sites some time (most of the work has already been finished around a month ago), or keep powering these with more links?

    Any advice is welcome. :)

If it takes 4-6 months, I dont know but It takes a lot longer then it used too only a year ago thats for sure.

I'm in the same situation like you are with 2 new sites powered with links from PBN's and web 2.0s but not much happening ranking wise.

I guess we just need to keep building links and eventually they will rise:)

What are the difficulty of those KW? I don't think with that link profile you have build you need to wait for 4-6 months to rank except if you are targeting medium-hard KW's...or you underestimated the the difficultly lvl of the KW.

Yeah, it's weird. But I wasn't too sure because Site 1 actually had been lying around without affiliate links in place and with only around 2-3K words of content for around 7 months before I started adding more content to it and building links. Maybe, the age of the actual money pages matters instead of the overall age of the site?

They are medium-difficulty keywords, but there are affiliate sites ranking already in top 5 in both of those niches. Though their SEMRush history tells me it took them around 4 months for their sites to gain any significant traffic.

From my understanding it really depends on the competition. I have ranked a lower competition keyword in 1-3 months, while a little more competitive keywords have taken 3-5 months.

They're not even crossing the top 50 in the first two months in my case. Even with strong PBN links. That's my main issue. :/

I just bought two sites of around 5-6 months age to test this sandbox theory. I'll be using a similar link building strategy on these new ones too.

I think site ranking depends on keyword competition. Not on amazon or what type of site it is.

What you common people cannot understand is that Moz is running the show, google is just a setback for the Empire of Moz. Also note that, Brand Fishsticks is the Emperor of Planet Quetzell.

    So, duh. So, much stress.

I recently made a amazon site on a 11 years old PR 3 domain, not niche related, no links when i bought it.
Made first page on 12 May and kept posting 1-2 article a week. I'am now at 20 pages/posts.
Bought quite a lot of different backlinks from BST and some from Fiverr. Mostly cheap packages ranging 15-70$

You're trying to catch the wrong fish here, mate. No offence.

If you'd like to learn more about how DA/PA actually works I'd be happy to help: http://techtage.com/how-to-increase-domain-authority/

You're right. The only thing worse than getting impatient about results is not starting a site at all.

Good job man! I've been monitoring SERPs of different niches for Amazon sites lately and found many such domains ranking very comfortably.

    Enable them here: http://serpbook.com/serp/settings

    UPDATE:

    Site 1:

    Site 2:

Thinks are finally starting to look a bit better!

Also, one of the new sites that I've acquired has around 30,000 words aged posts, but its existing on-page SEO was shit (the seller was good at content, bad at SEO/design). So I changed the theme and made the on-page SEO top-notch today. I'll be adding some more targeted content and then build some links. It currently ranks on second-third pages of product reviews with zero link building, so should be pretty exciting to work on it.

I think it depends upon keywords and niches, as some sites are ranking pretty quick whereas others taking longer than usual.

Focus on building some domain authority. Google loves authority, and your posts will rank a lot quicker

It is taking a lot longer these days. Even longer than it did earlier this year in my opinion.

I think link age is important, and links that are built are not releasing their full power for a long time. You have to wait months for links that are built today to have their true effect.
