Hey back again with another journey. My last journey was basically a fail, I tried to setup a niche site only to realize that I had no idea what I was doing. After failing multiple times for a year, I finally setup a site in the gardening niche that is doing fairly decent at the moment. It is averaging around 200 hits / day and making around 10-15$ a day average.

I'm 19 and currently attending a university. My goal is to get a degree in both economics and computer science while learning how to build sites and making a passive income. I want to pay off my student loans by the time I graduate as well as have enough money to make it on my own. It is a huge goal, but I believe I can accomplish it.

Some sites I setup in the past were also amazon affiliates + adsense sites. Through multiple failed attempts I gained valuable insight on what makes a great site. I believe that this new niche site journey i'm starting will be much more successful than my previous ventures.

The goal for the site is to reach $50/day and perhaps flip it for 15-20x the monthly revenue or continue to grow the site.

All the work will be done manually, but may outsource some SEO work. I've figured out a great link building strategy for affiliate sites and I plan to implement it in this journey. Stay tuned to learn more about how I link my sites. Using this method i've been able to rank for some competitive kw's in the 5-10k monthly search range.

The kw i'm targetting has around 6k searches a month and many long tail kw's that I can target as well. The first page of google is scattered with low authority sites that I can easily outrank with a couple links.

Without further ado, lets begin this journey.

    Day 1:
    - Bought Hosting
    - Setup Wordpress
    - KW research (complete)
    - Article idea brainstorming
    - Setup WP plugins

I'll try my best to keep this thread updated on a weekly basis. Weekly because daily changes don't really occur in serps during the early stages of the niche site.

    ~Best of luck Znipe

Like most affiliate sites, obtaining white hat backlinks can be really difficult. My SEO strategy usually plays out like this. I write killer content with some affiliate links in hopes that I might be able to secure a couple of backlinks through outreach. Most of the time, I get like maybe 5-10 but other than that noone is really willing to link to an amazon affiliate site. This is why I mainly just build the backlinks myself. I setup a small pbn network as well as send expired tumbs/weebs with high PA to the site. Then I hit the 2.0's with GSA for around 50k backlinks each. This gives insane momentum towards the site, i've had sites rank into the first page for moderately competitive keywords just from hitting the 2.0's with spam. I do my best to avoid a penalty by diversifying my anchor text before sending exact match anchors with the pbn and high PA tumbs/weebs.

    Hey op,
Excited for your journey, I am currently on one myself with my first site.

I wanted to ask a few questions maybe you have some insight on my road block.
    1) when you write your articles how do you target keywords? Do you do in title and in header and in meta tags? I hear people say to not tag in meta tags, so I'm confused; do I just write the articles with the long tails and keywords and hope it ranks for those words?

2)My site has been up for about 2 weeks now and it is indexed I did the whole site:(website) check and its there, problem is I can't find the page rank. I can't find which keywords my articles are hitting or not hitting if you get what I'm saying?

    3) My third question is what keyword tool are you using for research, recently GKEyword tool got limited, curious as to what you are doing or using instead?

Thanks for the journey looking forward to hearing back from you.

    1) The way I do it is I get one main keyword, lets say like best desktop keyboard or something. I would include this in the title as well as somewhere in the h2 tag. Then I will look up multiple lsi keywords as well as relevant long tail keywords and put them in the h3 and body of the article. If you put the keyword in the meta description, title, body, and h2 you are bound to rank for it eventually. You can even rank for keywords that aren't in your article by sending links to it with that specific anchor text. Google is smart enough to recognize lsi words and help you rank for terms that aren't even in your article.

    2) To find out which keywords you're ranking for you can setup google webmaster tool and see what kind of keywords your traffic is coming through. Also I pay for a service such as seobook or serpfox to keep track of specific keywords that I'm trying to rank for.

    3) Researching keywords can be very tricky if you're a beginner. I hate how the online marketing culture has slowly been shifting so that every "guru" out there is telling you to purchase this keyword tool or that keyword tool. In essence, keyword tools can help you research kw's faster but if you don't have the fundamentals down, i'd recommend doing it all manually before moving on and purchasing one of many kw tools.

My kw process is very simple. I have one main keyword which I plug into keywordshitter, ubersuggest, and keywordtool.io. These sites are completely free and they generate 1000's of related keywords as well as long tail words on your topic. Then I plug these keywords into google planner to check volume, and then investigate these individual keywords with MOZ and SEOQuake. Hope that helps.

Hey Op, yeah I used G keyyword planner, but recently they started to limit the data so for laptops instead of showinge exactly 2,000 searchs a month itll give you a range like 1k-15k a month which greatly misinterprets the research, i was wondering what else do you use instead of G keyword planner, since they are limiting users now, unless you found a way around it and if so please pm me how lol

Sorry OP for hijacking your thread. @jigg89 you should take a look here:

    That worked for me.

@op good luck on your journey, greatest advantage i see for your is your experience. As you already got a quite successful amazon site, i'm sure you can do it again.
