While there's some good products on etsy most of it is pure crap. I highly doubt amazon will knock out poor quality crap or at least have better control on the amount of crap that gets through. Etsy is safe in my opinion.

Quick, someone make a WSO about this untapped market that can net you $364.87 in one day.

There was this Alicia Shaffer who was on the Steve Harvey show and she
banked on Etsy. Someone on Facebook commented that she bought her stuff in
Eastern Asia and resold it at huge profit, saying it she hand-made it.

If you search her name or her company, it's not pretty.

I don't think she was the only one doing that anyway.

It won't quickly change anything. Etsy still dominates shit tons of pinterest searches along with buzzfeed.

Just another avenue for sellers, as for people who shop Etsy they do it is cause it's Etsy, not a fan myself but it's almost like a cult

I found this article about her: http://www.inc.com/larry-kim/the-un...s-mom-s-million-dollar-knitting-business.html

It says that she has 15 sewing moms to help her keep up with the demand. BS. There is absolutely no way she is selling that many items a day with only 16 people making those items. I sew, knit and crochet, and I can tell you that some of the shit she's got up on her store would take hours, days and even weeks to make.

So yeah, she's gaming the system. Etsy just doesn't say anything because they're making money off of her too. They get a cut of her profits. Since she's pulling in so much money, they're going to say silent about where she gets her stuff from.

I guess technically it is handmade. It's just handmade in China.

Anyway, you're right, she's not the only one doing it. And it'll happen on Amazon too, same as it did on eBay and Etsy.

it's difficult to say. Handmade is only a category on Amazon, and there is no special search advantage than other with low price, FBA, lost of products review. I mean I doubt that there are not enough traffic than Etsy. Also, there are only 4 handmade categories on Amazon handmade..

I prefer to open shop on etsy than amazon. 3.5% commission rate vs Amazon 10% rate + $39.99 monthly fee. It does not make sense for handmade artists..
