    Summary:
Hey Guys, long time lurker/ reader but more importantly one of those weird analysis paralysis guys that spends months reading methods, strategies and buying guides left, right and center all to find the perfect strategy, too scared to take action in case it's wrong and ultimately just going around in circles as there is no 'best' strategy. On recent reflection i've just spent almost a year of my time and energy reading and not doing anything. This will be my first and last journey thread on BHW as I will make this work by the end of 2017. I have decided on the Amazon Journey as it's by far the easiest, in comparison to drop-shipping and the like. The plan is to rank the website in Google with your standard 'buying intent' keywords, i'm not going to try any shady methods or weird sponsored/ paid advert tactics, just nice and simple organic traffic coming in from people who want the product already.

    Skills/ Background:
I run an seo and web design company, (as everybody as his dog does these days) so I will be coding the sites myself to be clean, fast, responsive and have the best possible UX that I can provide. The drawback is that I have absolutely 0 writing skill, nor an interest in doing so and will be sourcing this to a provider I met here on BHW. To clarify, I intend to start a new site every month so by the end of the year I will have 12 Amazon sites on focused on different niches/ products, this journey will start by me documenting the process of putting together one website and the just provide income updates on the other sites monthly.

    Expected Expense / Expected Income:
    $1,500 (one off) / $250 (per month)

    Stage 1: Domain Purchase
    Expected Cost: $500
I'm planing to purchase a domain through GoDaddy Auctions because if I bought an expired domain or a new domain, I could spend around $1,000 in link building to get the same results as a $400 domain on auction, plus it's already indexed. I'm looking for a minimum specification of: DA/ PA 45+, TF/ CF 20+, Ref Domain 100+.
Note: The niche of the domain or former use of the website will be something generic, i'm unlikely to find the exact niche I need, honestly not sure if this will have a hugely negative effect.

    Stage 2: Website Design/ SEO/ Hosting
    Expected Cost: $250
As mentioned above, I will be creating this website and optimizing it myself but I will still need to purchase a decent website hosting platform for a year that I can expand on if required. Also a base theme to re-code as this will be a WordPress site. The reason being is simplicity and ease of updating content, although I prefer pure HTML. I will be having an SSL certificate and SSD hosting, probably a VPS to avoid other cloud hosted sites and for maximum speed.

    Stage 3: Marketing/ Content
    Expected Cost: $750
The content will be the largest cost of this whole project, at around $3 per 100 words for really good content, it's gonna add up quick if I need 20 x 1,000 word product reviews ($600). I should also keep the site updated at least once or twice per month on the blog in addition to products so the website isn't just affiliate links, the content will be shared via IFTTT on social media which I can setup manually for free. This should help bolster some domain authority and send some legit no-follow links into the website. I have a dedicated 25 site PBN already prepared for the site to add some keyword links (if required). As i'm buying a domain at auction, it already has it's own brand and authority established so there is less need to build brand/ generic keyword links and I can use the pbn links to focus on my actual keywords.

How will I update this Thread/ Misc Notes:
I could really do with support on my journey, I know my weaknesses and wavering because I find a slightly more exciting prospect elsewhere will likely take me over. I also have a pretty dire video game addiction so this will be an excellent way to derail me from that. The costs mentioned above are estimates only. Any question, ask away!

Updates will likely be fortnightly/ monthly as this will be a year long journey
Domain statistics and cost of auctioned domain will be added
SERP tracking of my keywords will be added
Amazon affiliate income screenshots will be added

Your budget is more than enough to achieve it.

Go to my profile, find my amazon journey thread.

I started with 10 sites, however worked out just 1 site.

This is that site, today ,up to 18 dec,90% on autopilot.

My total cost overall was 1500$

    You can do it!

    Start today,not next year.

    Good luck

I'm just reading through all your posts and you're quite funny dude :p I'm just finishing off your Amazon journey too, nice work btw!

I have a question though in regards to your website format mentioned, I wondered what would work better for affiliates based on your experience.
You had on your thread the layout of a large page with lots of content, great headers and then a big buy button at the end.

Do you think some kind of WooCommerce page would work better? Something like this: https://postimg.org/image/i6zlzuidf/ (with the cart etc removed and remodded to be a review/ affiliate page).
I personally wouldn't scroll through huge pages and read 1000+ words, but then I wouldn't even look for reviews outside of Amazon so i'm not exactly the target market.
Also, you've inspired me to start earlier, thanks man, i'm doing some better keywords research based on a few of your pointers :)

I've done some changes since then.
1.smaller buttons. The old big one look very spamy
2.The content remains the same.At the top of my page I have a table of content which makes it easy for the readers to navigate.
3.No,don't use wooCommerce.A nice & lean wp with manual links is the best way to go.
4.Don't use buttons/links such as "discounted link" you will get banned.
5.Don't put price if you don't have a way to update it automatically.
6.Make sure that at the bottom or at a separate page you have "Amazon Associate disclaimer". There you should put "YourDomain.com is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com"

Those are some important points to start with.

    Hope it helps

    Update 1 - Date: 06/07/2017

    Total Income:
    £0
    Total Expense: £550
    Project Duration: 6 Days

    Task 1) Product/ Keyword Selection

I have found four products, these are medium competition but have 500 - 1,000 search volume per month and cost £200+ at minimum.

    Task 2) Domain Found:
Cost: £300 (Including Registration, Domain Privacy and GoDaddy Hosting)
    • Homepage Authority: 54
    • Domain Authority: 47
    • Referring IP's: 432
    • Social Signals: 5,000+
    • MozTrust: 5.6
    • MozRank: 5.4
    • Indexed URLs:10,122
    Task 3) Website Creation
    Cost: £50
The website was created in WordPress using the Genesis theme, i've optimized it myself and re-designed it so it's no so basic anymore.

    Task 4) Content Creation/ Uploading

    Cost: £200
The Content arrived a day early (today) and i've uploaded all 4 reviews to the homepage in one huge, but easy to navigate, 3,000 word index page which is not keyword stuffed.
The only pages I have are the index page and the 20 blog posts I also ordered based on the products niche to create a very relevant website.

    Task 5) Track/ Monitor Keywords

Interestingly, I only just added the website to Google Analytics about 10 minute ago and the pages were indexed immediately, I will post another ranking update on 14/01/17.

    Task 6) Link Building
From today I will be building one link every day or two to the website, mixing up different variations of keywords that i'm trying to rank for.

    Tasks to Do:

    1. Continue to look for more products and niches to get into with low- medium levels of competition.
    2. Keep an eye on the domain auctions incase anything super relevant comes out.
    3. Update this thread on the 14/01/2017.

    Conclusion and Thoughts
Well, i've kind of done all the hard work for now. Link building is pretty easy but the best way about it is tricky to figure out, social, web 2.0's etc.
The website already has a huge amount of branded links so i'm wondering if it's safe to spam with a few direct keyword links.
The website right now is basically just affiliate links which i'm not too keen on but i'm adding links to the blogs posts every now and then, I have one scheduled post every month for the next 12 months on a branded IFTTT.
Whilst the website I bought is powerful, it used to rank for completely different terms, i'm worried about completely changing it's focus will raise suspicions, $10 EMD's may be a better way to go from what i've seen.

Any tips of tricks at this point?

Note: Special thanks to Mirrorer for helping hugely with this project and this 30 minute burst of music for keeping me going.

Thanks a lot! I went with GoDaddy hosting on their EU server, they primarily offer US.
It cost me £17 for one year on their economy package but it was crazy hard to find it, I had to Google offers as they don't offer it on their price list.

Their a respectable host and the site has had 100% uptime so far, which is good compared to other hosts.

You're of to a great start, mate. Good luck.
Your domain looks pretty good. Just 2 questions about that:
    1) Do these kinds of domains (DA around 50, good backlink profile,...) appear reguraly on Godaddy auctions, or only every now and then and do you really have to wait until this kind of domain shows up?
    2) Is the price you paid for this great domain a 'normal' price or do you consider this a real bargain?

Thanks and good luck with the journey!

Thank you Scalli, very good questions and it took me ages of research to figure out.
Domains like this are quite common on Auctions but they do go for a lot of money, this particular auction went on well into midnight which is probably why I won it but on reflection it's not -that- great.
There was a post I saw somewhere on this forum with a guy that asked if a similar domain to mine was worth £200 and the answer was no.

That being said, the people who said this didn't elaborate on how they manage to get similar domains much cheaper.
GoDaddy is really competitive so I just took what I could get ASAP so I could start my project and paid a slightly higher than usual premium.

I'm gonna say that it's really hard to get a bargain on Auctions as there are simply too many people. All the best!
