I'm excited to start my first journey thread. I've been trying my hand at various online ventures for many years, with little to no success. I've learned a lot along the way and am applying those lessons to my latest venture: an authority blog monetized with Amazon Associates and Adsense.

About Me, My Plans and Goals:
I'm based in the US. And as an FYI, I'm a woman...so please don't call me "sir", "dude", "buddy" or "man"...lol. I plan to continue to expand this blog to become an authority site on a particular evergreen niche. I'm a decent writer, but at this time, I plan to outsource all blog posts on the site. The articles I have up right now are of basic quality, but I intend to start using a different source for my articles that will be professional quality. At this time, I am not promoting a particular product on Amazon. I promote one of their services.

The blog has been up for almost a month and has already made some money. I will document what I've already done so far and update at least once a week going forward. Most traffic right now comes from Facebook, I get on average 15-20 unique visitors a day. The SEO packages I ordered still need some time to work. I only target keywords that are "easy", "still easy" and 1 or 2 that are rated "possible" according to KWFinder.

I welcome any advice, questions or suggestions. :)

    What I've done so far:

Bought domain and a year of hosting: $12 (found an awesome coupon!)
    Created site on Wordpress
Purchased 500-word starter articles for main keywords: $80
Posted all articles with required Amazon disclosure statement and affiliate links.
1 Adsense ad appears at the end of each post.
Purchased SEO packages from @sarkark21: $151
Purchased stock image for logo and site header: $15
    Created logo and header
    Created Facebook page for site
    Created Twitter acct for site
    Created Pinterest acct for site
    Created LinkedIn acct for site
    Created Instagram acct for site
Shared all blog posts to FB page, Twitter acct, Pinterest and LinkedIn
Purchased likes for FB page from SEOClerks: $10
Purchased FB shares for blog posts (real people, not bots): $20
Boosted FB page posts via Facebook Ads: $25
Offline promotion to friends/acquaintances who fit my target demographic

    Total Invested So Far: $313
Total Earned So Far Amazon: $21
Total Earned So Far Adsense: $3

    Current Keyword Rankings:
Site is currently only ranking for one of the keywords that I targeted in my SEO packages. As of today, it is on page 5 for that keyword.

What I want to do over the next month:

Purchase another SEO package from @sarkark21
Automate posting blog posts to social media accts
Add more likes/followers to FB, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram accts
Boost more posts with Facebook Ads
Buy longer, higher quality articles for future blog posts
Find more "easy" keywords to rank for
Look into guest blogging on popular related sites
Buy Sponsored Posts from large, related FB pages
Create YT acct and start making videos
Create weekly newsletter and work on getting subscribers

    What I'm unsure about doing:
I have a credit on Google Adwords, considering creating ads to drive traffic to the site. However, I've never had much success with Adwords, so not sure if it's the right move.

Curious, what did you do in terms of keyword research? Also curious to know if the niche is something that you're super passionate about, or this is just one of those rank and bank kind of site where you're not too attached the the site.
I'm similar to you in a sense that I've done various things in the past with little success but now finally want to get onto something more long term. I'm just stuck in picking a niche, not sure if I should go for one where I'm not as interested in, but with good metrics, or go with niches that I'm super familiar with, but not necessarily are "buying" or high volume niches.

Anyway, good luck with your journey. Look forward to seeing your progress!

As I stated in the first post, I used KWFinder to find keywords based on my niche. I usually go for keywords that have at least 400 monthly searches. My niche is something I do have an interest in. I want the site to grow and establish its own sense of community with the target audience. The goal is to provide high quality information that is helpful, while softly encouraging them to sign up for the service I'm promoting.

Small update. No earnings since the first post. Still only ranked for one keyword, it's now on page 4 of Google results. Still getting traffic mostly from a boosted fb page post from last week. I will boost two new posts today, which should bring good results.

FB ads seem to be a good way to keep some traffic coming in until my keywords start ranking. It's also good for increasing page likes, since people seem to like the page and share my posts when they find the info useful.

Wrote a new post on my blog yesterday, 1300+ words. Shared the post to my site's fb page, then boosted it and another post via FB ads (spent $30). Earned another $10 on Amazon just hours after boosting the posts. This will be my last round of fb ads for a while. Gonna focus more on increasing organic search traffic. Will try not to spend any more money on the site for a couple weeks.

    Total spent so far: $343
    Total earnings so far $34

Lol, looks like my journey isnt all that interesting to you guys, but I guess I'll briefly update anyway, mostly for my own benefit.

    Things I've done
-started making my own web 2.0 backlinks
-made a youtube video and promoted it with a fiverr gig. already had some fiverr credit, so no added expense.
-found several low comp keywords to focus on

Keyword Rankings: The site is ranking for 42 organic keywords according to Ahrefs. Highest ranking keyword is at position 27 and has MSV of 2100. Most of my traffic still comes from the Facebook fan page posts that I boosted and bought shares for.

Things to do: I'll buy another SEO package later this month. Not sure if I want to stick with the same keywords I used the first time or switch to the easier, low comp keywords I found. Will also keep creating web 2.0 backlinks. Contacting sites for guest posting opportunities is also something I want to start doing soon. And I'll either buy or write posts on my blog using the new low comp keywords. I should probably make more youtube videos as well.

    Total Earnings So Far: $45
    Total Spent So Far: $343

It looks like you're making progress, congratulations. However, before buying any more SEO packages, I would suggest looking into creating your own network of domains. It's much safer, longer lasting, more powerful, and in the long run, less expensive.

Either way, good luck on your journey.

Can you recommend a good guide on how to do that or a good thread on here? I'm not very knowledgeable on how it works.
