[Amazon Affiliates] - Access Key and Secret Access Key

I want to purchase these Amazon sites from someone and they did manage to send me earning reports but I'm sort of skeptical. So I asked the seller if I could run my affiliate ID for 24 hours to see if I got any clicks or conversions.

The sites themselves are "autoblogs" and the seller told me he cannot predict where the traffic comes from, so this makes me a little more paranoid.

Anyway, he allowed me to input my affiliate/tracking ID for 24 hours to see the click/conversions.

I had to give him my Amazon Associate Access Key and Secret Access Key - both of which I just signed for after the seller told me it was needed for his WP-robot script.

My question is.. should I be worried that I gave him my Access key & Secret access key? Is there anything he can do with them? Was it necessary to give it to him in the first place?

He can't abuse your keys unless he is promoting your affiliate id. The two are tied together.

I'm pretty sure that you did need to give him the keys because of the way wp-robot pulls data from Amazon. I'm a little confused about how it would change all of the posts already published on the site... did you make money while your affiliate id was on his site?

Wouldn't he just need an affiliate link?

We just wanted to test if everyone would go alright upon transferring the websites. Thanks for replying Lbrown, you've been a huge help.

It apparently is needed for a plugin. Which would probably be WP-robot.

They can only really promote you as an affiliate and I think they would need to sign in to your account to change anything BUT of course this is never a guarantee that someone can't do it. Not sure about hijacking if they have this info, maybe some-else who is a bit more savvy re. security issues can help.

Well, you're not supposed to share them.

Even if the person is not ill intentioned, you always risk his system not being amazon-compliant, so it could put your account in jeopardy. But since you're past both concerns by now, just try to relax and wait for the results to show.

I thought you could deactivate them.....

I cannot think at the top of my head how he could abuse them
maybe query the amazon server and cause it to ban your keys
but I doubt it.
He is after your money(selling you a site)
I think he just wants to show you his site produces.
