My goal is to learn A LOT - I'm very new to affiliate marketing/seo. I decided to take action after reading many very helpful threads by Hekke (thank you for posting so many helpful guides).

I'm hoping I can make $50/day after the new year. Trying to get a small passive income that will teach me a lot at the same time. Nothing will help me learn more than just getting into it.

    ---

    Things I have done today:

    - Bought a domain. Saw a domain that fits my site idea well that was expired and is 13 years old, so after making sure it doesn't have a bad history I decided to purchase it (14.99).
    - Set up a simple wordpress site with good plugins/followed Hekke's guide to making a site quickly.
    - Spent quite a while trying to find good content writers on BHW. After seeing some samples I purchased a test product review from one service ($5.50 for 500 words).
    - I spent 6 hours doing research on keywords and products I could post on my site. I have found over 200 low/medium competition keywords that vary between 100 and 1000 searches/month on google. (Adwords keyword planner is what I used for research & browsing amazon).

    To do list:

    - Once I have found a content writer I like, I will be purchasing 4x 500-1000 word product reviews. Each review will compare 4-5 products and I will be putting a minimum of 7 keywords in each.
    - I will also be purchasing 5x 500-1000 word informative articles that relate to my product reviews. These will also have more than a handful of keywords in each.

    ---

I would like to get a decent amount of content on my site at once and then slowly add more every few days.
I'm unsure if I should put internal links in my informative articles to lead people to my amazon product reviews or if I should put a "Best Product Out Now" affiliate image/link in those articles to lead directly to a product on amazon. Maybe I should do both?
My homepage will be a "Best Of" static page with the best 5 products to buy for my niche.
Not planning on doing any offsite SEO for at least a month (I think I will get decent traffic once I get some content on my site). I will need to learn how to make/use web 2.0s to link to my site.

I'm VERY open to help/critiques. Next update will be posted when I order my articles.

To make 50$ a day you don't need to build a quick website, you need something like a solid rock!
Hope you can have success following this road but ehi, I done it for months without results few years ago (I learned that success isn't something fast or easy or quick).

    Thank you!

I can?t thank you enough for your guides and helpful posts man. Thank you.

I?ll be sure to ask once I feel ready to look into that! Thank you.

Giving up is not in my DNA :p Thanks

I completely understand what you mean. I meant that I followed the quick guide to help me upload a theme/good plugins/etc. I will be spending lots of time trying to improve my website. I?m just really new and the guide helped me with the basics.

I've started one site myself in August. Nothing in September, $17 in October and $15 so far in this month.
Did keyword research, got some solid posts written (1000-3000 words) and that's it. No link building yet.
Ranking for 100's of long tail keywords. WMT shows you the list of queries (keywords) you are getting an impressions for and average position.
Optimize the post by including those keywords in post.....Bam traffic doubled for the post in few days.
It's all learning all the way...you take action, you learn something new, you tweak accordingly, get results, move on.
Will post more updates if you all are interested. Good luck to your journey.

It's all trial and error. Keep working hard!

    @everyone
Does anyone have a small guide on properly optimizing posts for SEO? I'm a little confused when it comes to using H1 H2 H3 tags. Should H1 be the title of the post, H2 the subtitle & H3 the main content? Sprinkle in some H2 tags to introduce paragraphs with keyword in it?

    Update #1

I will be ordering 10x 500 word articles on Monday. 4x Reviews (top5/best5products) + 6x Informative (how to/best way to). TAT is quick and the quality will be good.

Today I'll be doing some research on good keywords for how to/best way to articles. I love this type of informative article because it's a perfect way to lead to the products I'm trying to sell. I'm still unsure on if I will be linking the informative articles to a product on the same page (example: here's the best product you can buy) or if I should link them to my top 5 product reviews.

    Instagram:
I have an instagram account in my niche that I've been playing around with for 2 months. Currently have 4k followers. Once I get content on my site, I'll be posting 1 pic on my instagram daily and I'll be putting a link to a MUST BUY TOP 5 PRODUCTS in my bio - I will use instagress to drive a little bit of traffic to my site (I have it set on commenting/liking which actually gets quite a bit of people to check out my link).

    Facebook:
Unsure if I'll use this method... I use this method for clickbank. I have 10x PVA facebooks and a few private proxies. Maybe I could manually post comments on popular pages in my niche? We'll see once I get to that point.

    Update #2

Have 10 total articles (4 reviews 6 how to guides)

I'll be posting 1 review + 1 article a day every day this week
For example (not my niche lol): Best 5 dog harnesses to buy = review
How to clean a dog harness = informative guide

I feel like it's better if I slowly start adding content instead of adding it all at once. Looks more natural to me.
Found a good writer here on BHW, so I'm very excited to spend another day this week researching long tails for more articles.

I still feel VERY motivated which is fun. Have a lot of ideas, but I'm trying to concentrate on one step at a time.
At the end of the week, I'll add a link to my "Top 5 products" homepage article to my instagram to bring in a bit of traffic.

Would love to get some feedback/tips/etc. Thanks for checking in.

I find the best way to rank fast is to have longer articles targeting alot of lsi keywords (2k-5k words)

    Update #3

My homepage is now complete along with all my widgets.
I now have 5x top 3 or 5 product reviews posted & 5x informative articles posted.

By tomorrow I should have another handful of articles posted and then I will start ordering more.

Most of my time was spent trying to make my site look professional & attractive. Couldn't get my homepage and widgets done until all of my reviews were completed by my writer. I can now spend a lot of time doing longtail keyword research for articles that I could use to get people to check out my reviews.

Time to get indexed by google lol

    Update #4

I posted 22x 500 word articles in the last week and currently waiting for google to index my posts.
Webmaster still says 0 indexed :/

I'm confident that I'll be able to get some decent organic traffic once everything's indexed. Did so much keyword research in the past few days, I have to slow down or I'll spend way too much on articles lol.

    Update #5

Haven't been able to do much and won't be touching my site for another week (university finals). As of today, 42 keywords are in the top 100. Slowly starting to rank for long tails and I'm thinking I'll have close to 100 keywords ranking decently by the time I'm done my finals.

16 ordered items on amazon (none are products I linked to) $7.22 profit!
    4.26% conversion so far

After christmas, I'll be buying 10-15k words in articles.

    Update #6

Earnings in the last week: $18.36
    Keywords in top 100: 71

Working on web 2.0's right now

    Update #7

Earnings since last update (2days): $6
    Total earnings since starting: $31.83

    Keywords in top 100: 88

Still can't spend as much time as I want on growing my site, but I'll be done finals tomorrow. Hoping I can get 10 web 2.0's done today. My rankings are slowly going up without any work being done. I have a feeling that I won't be needing many backlinks to rank my main kw's.

That's good to see you're earning without any linkbuilding yet, good luck OP.

    Update #8

    Total earnings = $47 now
    keywords in top 100 = 138

Started building links. Pretty much just building links & slowly ranking better. I'll be able to afford to buy another 10k+ words of content within the next 2 weeks.
