    ---- THREAD CLOSED 12/18/2014 ----
    Hello BHW,

First of all, I want to say that this journey was inspired by
    BassTrackerBoats journey!!!

Im doing authority sites for almost 6 years now and that is my main and only source of income. Some of the sites were better, some didn't show some extra results but in 6 years I learned a lot and now I want to share my knowledge with BHW, place where I learned a lot (including, not to believe to everyone...loool).

Sorry for my english, Im coming from little country Croatia and now Im living between Croatia and Miami (my girlfriend is from Miami :) )

    Let's start!

    1. NICHE - This is one of the most important things if you want to build an real authority site. Why? Because you must find NICHE you're interested in. Why? Because after some time when you don't see results ( and believe me, with this kind of sites it takes time for results) you can lose motivation, but if you love something, it will be easier for you to keep going.

    2. KEYWORDS - Yesterday I did some keyword research and I find many good keywords for my niche, for finding keyword Im using KEYWORD Revealer and after that Im using UBER SUGGEST to extract as many secondary keywords (long tail keywords) which I will use in my 2000 words articles, but will speak later about that.

    3. DOMAIN/HOSTING - Found a great domain 10 years old (very brandable) without any spammy links and DA 27, PA 17, as far as hosting I will use shared hosting on Hostwinds (this is not advertising, I didn't have any problems with them so far) and later if this journey goes well I will migrate to something bigger, but we will must wait for that :)

That is it for now folks, tomorrow I will update!

I will try to post update every day so that you can really follow this journey!

Thanks and wish me luck! :)

Nice, you seem serious enough (a lot of time people abandon their journeys)... I will follow since the beginning and I wish you succeed, and hopefully I'll learn something too!

There is NO quiting!!! Read the 1st step... Find NICHE in which you're interested in... Many people go for some NICHES because they see a lot of value in it and they are not interested in that niche in their common life... It's like long tail keywords, it is better to be first for 300 monthly searches on Google 1st page than 25th for keyword with 100.000 searches...

    Thanks for sharing this, xlcrash.
Would you mind to give some advice on how to search for an old high authority domain which is not marked as spam? this would be really useful.

There is many tools to search old dropped domains, I prefer domcop.com... It is nice tool to find you few domains and it is especially good for newbies, but when I find domains which seems good then I manually check them through different tools such as wayback machine, ahrefs.com, see if domain isn't penalized by google (site:domainname.com)... For me most important is wayback machine where I can see history of domain. Why? Because you will see if that was some good site or some site with few pages made just for short term business... When you look at the ahrefs.com you can see where are links coming from and check those domains CF and TF... Newbies always make same mistake - they see domain with many backlinks and high DA and immediately they think they have found "golden egg" but it's not that easy. I prefer domains with small number of backlinks from good domains. For example: I found domain xxxxxxxx.com which has 32 backlinks from 32 diff domains and IPs, DA was 27 and PA 20... It was some company that has failed but when they were starting they invest some money in PR and they have some good backlinks from news websites...

I don't say it is easy to find but it is better to look for a longer period, and find a quality domain, rather than rush and eventually find a domain that will make your efforts fail.

And you must be quick, because there is a lot of "sharks" especially from BHW who are looking for the same thing you are looking for... Some of them use this domains for PBN and some of them use it simply for 301 redirect.

    Hope this was helpful

Out of curiousity, how many keywords do you have right now? I was doing keyword research today. I was at 1k, and trimmed it down to 700. Still gotta trim it out.

Yeah, that is the reason why I started this journey... :) But, I think that if you want to succeed in whatever you do, you have to set high goals...

Anyway guys, please don't PM me... if you have any questions post it here so that everybody can see it and learn something from it... I will try to answer all the questions, but please don't repeat same questions, read the thread before posting questions, don't be lazy (if you're lazy forget about this thread, you wont succeed).

At this moment I have around 2k keywords... I am not burdened with it, I found the first set of keywords, in parallel with putting new articles, I will seek new the keywords.

I think that with 700 keywords you're good to go...

Im writing some big articles for my main keywords now, so will update more later today...
