I was just doing some keyword research and I came across this.
    Search for "tetris" in google
freetetris.org outranks wikipedia and tetris.com for the word!
It dominates most of the market when it comes to the word "tetris".
    Here's the traffic travis report:

More people will link to it, it's a site where you can obviously play free tetris.

It's also an officially licensed tetris game, where you can start playing with one click and no messing around. So with this link bait I'd say it's no surprise it's up there.

Actually, for me, it doesn't come up first.

Visitor lengths would be extremely long on this site i'd imagine, probably has a good effect on SERPs.

There's a feature on tetris.com. I haven't looked into it deeply, but I do remember something about partners licencing or something.

    That makes sense.

Yes, length of time a visitor stays on a site after a search has a lot to do with the rankings..

think about it... why would they stay on the site.... unless they found what they wanted..

Yeah ... I know that site ... I actually tried to compete with. Even got a domain (very cool domain name with "tetris" in it) witch I still have, but got sandboxed pretty quickly. Wasn't too good at seo 2 years ago.

I got banned from mochi after I created my first Tetris game because they said "Tetris" is trademarked, but it's full of other tetris games there, I guess I was just unlucky, and they asked me to show them proof that I have Tetris distribution or developing rights. Applied on their site for a licence but never got any answer.

That was my Tetris journey :)

And also that site has every possible extension bought, pointing to this .org domain

because websites like download.com (cnet) rank just fine, and they're only typically used to download a software... and that's it.

Sure, bounce rates matter, but they're among 200 other ranking factors.
