Hello BHW, here is the situation:

Over the past few weeks I have frantically been trying to make some quick coin. Aside from my usual methods, which don't generate more than $100 a day, I experimented with launch jacking and running a few CPC campaigns over Adsense and Microsoft AdCenter. I didn't make as much money as I wanted to, but now I have some $$$ I can re-invent. There is ONE big issue though. I am launching Pix, my file sharing service this weekend in beta and in about 1 or 2 months, launching it full-scale. The costs are going to be HUGE. The estimates I ran across are in the 5 digits. We are talking $15,000. I need to start hiring programmers to do certain things I wasn't originally able to do, pay some mad money for top Adwords positions, and just generally create a "map to success" for this service.

So I come to BHW asking for suggestions. I have around $1,000 I could put into ventures. I would like to play it safe, since I won't have a spare thousand laying around anytime soon. I welcome all suggestions!

I highly considered Facebook + Dating Offers, but after looking into it for half the day today, I don't think I could make it work. I'm willing to work my butt off to get this done, so throw a bone my way.

ps: I'm not looking for handouts, so please don't go offering me the money for 75% of future revenue. Thanks

Unless you've done it before or already have some solid income, I would pretty much give up on the idea of making that $15k yourself unless you sell off assets or similar.

If you have a really good idea look for investors - but if you only have $1k to put in yourself and are looking for $15k be prepared to give away a lot of equity (at least 50%).

I was very afraid of that answer. The majority of my income goes away as living expense, so whatever I make online is some nice extra side cash.

I already started selling off some of my assents. Mainly a couple domains that could be quite profitable, and one of them has intrest. Not a whole lot of money, maybe and extra 1-2k.

And in terms of investors, I wanted to be in complete control of the company, thus, I never set out to find one.

So looking at this realistically, within the 1 or 2 month time span, could there be anything I could do to get me even close to that number?

    Thanks!

I say work your way up slowly and just put that "fast 15k" goal aside for a little while. And postpone running your file sharing service for a while either. And then maybe you could invest in tools to scale up what ever method you used to get that money or to start on a new method. Keep scaling until you have that $15k

I appreciate the advice. I kind of always had been working my way up. At least now I can semi-stably make some side cash online. I think the methods I was using are quite deprecated. Mainly involved listing boards such as craigslist and some misleading ads. Kind of want to move away from that anyways.

In regards to postponing this service.... I don't really think thats an option. I have a lot of people relying on this service who I don't want to put down. ie: partners for the content locking service and advertisers to name a few.

I have heard some really good things in regards to Facebook PPC ads. I advertised on FB for a while, but most of my campaigns are break even. I know the whole split-testing, weed out the bad philosophy, but you need some serious resources to make bank on FB.

As always, open to suggestions. Thanks!
