You've to market your content in order to get it noticed.
Just writing and publishing a content is going to take you nowhere.
If you are a writer, then guest blog on other relevant blogs related to your niche and give a link back to your content.

If your website has no power (which im assuming it doesnt because people who have one wouldnt be asking this question) then you need to promote things to get the ball rolling.
If your site is powerful, then some content you can put out and it will rank without anything extra than good on page seo.
If not, promotion and links are needed

Make sure you have done a proper on page. If your keyword is competitive do keyword research & target more long tail keywords. Also, publish more high quality articles to keep your site updated & interlink the relevant articles. As advised promote your articles on social medias and build high quality links.

Publishing blog posts in one thing and getting people to read it is another thing. You can almost be 100% certain that if you don't promote your blog, it will never be seen or read by anyone. Guaranteed.
You need to promote like crazy. SEO, Social media, engaging in relevant communities and sharing your content at the right opportunity. Creating social media channels and gathering followers and then promote the content there. These are all necessary. The more you can do, more people will see. Otherwise, just publish and pray and you'll have 0 traffic.

I am assuming you have a brand new website. So getting your first few articles indexed will take some time.
However, sooner or later all your articles will be indexed. So no need to do any fancy stuff (because it can be a rabit hole in itself and distract you from publishing more content).
Just do these 2 things and you are good to go:
1. Set up a GSC account and submit your sitemap.
2. Post each new article to 3-4 social media platforms like Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, or any forums
