    do you guys discuss seo in gmail or any google products?

    Here is why I am paranoid: if their bot sees any terms related to seo, such as "search engine optimization" or "search engine marketing", they will suspect that you are involved in SEO, and you try to artificially boost your rankings. A human will review your domain's backlinks, and you are screwed.

    is this a legit concern? should I start using hotmail?

    Why not use your own domain email and outlook? And I do think its a legit concern.

    Myself personally when I used to use gmail, I made it a habit to never send anything through there mail service that I didnt want the rest of the world to know. I never did like the fact that there scanning every email to serve up some ads. With all that aside I dont think that google is actually taking the time to find out what your doing SEO wise, but I remember reading a article somewhere that email text is all stored in databases so that big brother has access to all of our correspondence at anytime they feel the need for it.

    Google doesn't look at your emails to figure out if they should monitor your seo activities. Why on earth would they when they can use their multi-billion dollar algorithm to sniff you out? :)

    Don't worry too much about it. At best you'll be able to get away with some things but sooner or later, Google will get you. It always does.

    Keep low and move fast :)

    I don't think its an issue. I remember a time that seo, meant that you only applied a certain amount of principles to your own site, and that was that. No backlinks, unless someone else was linking to you.

    Even mato cunto made a joke that seo "experts" only have a job because most people with a site don't have good content, or don't do on page seo.

    For me personally, seo is still this. Your website only. Once you start manually trying to manipulate your rankings, then your not talking about seo any more.

    There are still plenty of services which still offer "genuine" seo, and they shouldn't be penalized for using the term in their email.

    SEO = Search Engine Optimization
    Blackhat = Methods to increase your Google rank by means of automated or generated content and or links that go against Google methods of ranking.

    So, no, I don't think Google will snoop your mail to the point of finding out you're involved in a Blackhat community and then punish your sites.

    A major privacy breach like reading our emails is literally the only thing that could take down Gmail.

    Conclusion: Paranoia. Google isn't that desperate. Search bores Google, they're too busy trying to put us in driverless cars...

    I guess if your seo is white as a rabbit, you should fear not, however, if it's black that you are into, stay away from google products
