I am studying MBA in one of Ivy schools, with easy 100+K package and promising career development. but since I found out this website, it is so difficult for me to focus on my MBA. what is wrong with me. is IM really worth sacrificing my MBA related career?

you are a student, smoke a blunt! :D

btt: do your study well and start IM part time. restrict your time on bhw.
believe me, if everything fails you still have your MBA. a degree is always worth something! :)

Yea there are so many motivation threads on here but only like 1% of this forum will make more than you will with an MBA...

If you think IM is just about spamming then your perception is wrong. A person don't need an MBA to be business oriented or have a successful business.

However, i agree with the other guy who said you should do IM on the side. Maybe over time you will see its full potential and not just think about spamming.

Good look with whatever you choose.

I say keep focused on your MBA. You can make much more with an MBA than IM. Also you will have more financial security as there are a high demand for positions that require an MBA degree especially from a prestigious school. If IM is your passion you can always go into it on the side.

hey man first of all listen to ur self and think tat wat ur doing is correct or not.... then u can decide by ur self.... MBA is for ur career and IM is for ur growth.... don't compare both of them... it looks odd.... but u should be well focused on both of them to improve ur growth as well as career.....

Besides MBA is also for business purpose only..... so remember tat and all the best.....

Personally I'd stay focused on your studies and complete those. Dabble in IM on the side, but stay focused.

If you don't make it in IM it's a miserable and desperate life that I wouldn't wish on anyone.

I make some nice money doing IM, but it's not life changing at the moment, my only saving grace is that I have a VERY boring night job that pays our basic expenses or I'd be trying to raise a family on the whim of the Big G!

Study first, IM on the side or later!

I had the same situation with you. I used to be a college student with only 1 year left to graduate but I sacrificed my college degree to pursue my IM dream. But soon I'll be going back to college and finish my course. What I suggest is don't just think of the present or past, think mostly of the future (I'm a futuristic guy ;) ). Think of what will happen if you will fail in your IM dream.

It's the lure of big money from the comfort of where ever you and you laptop are
compared to student loans, a full-time unpaid job learning MBA stuff and an uncertain
future once u get your degree. IM redefines you for better or for worse.

    What we're taught:

Option A: Work hard, go to school, get career, get paid.

    Option B: Win Lottery/Lawsuit, sell drugs/do music/entertainment, get paid.

    Option C: be broke.

When you trip across IM, it's like this secret option d you never knew existed.... like you discovered atlantis or some shit.

Ivy League school? You can't even speak English. Why lie about that?

Are there schools outside the US that they also call Ivy League?

There will be more people receiving degrees in the next 20 years then all of human history combined. That's called degree inflation.

Do you know how many Indians and other countries are recieving these degrees?

Are you going to be able to compete with them? They can work for a third of what you can. Without the debt.

Furthermore, most of the MBA success came from those entering the financial services sector, well financing prosperity with debt in America is over.

Also, the way student loans work in the USA is a straight up scam, no other way to put it. I could go on and on about why but mostly its debt you can't file bankruptcy on, and the way the congress raises the amount people can borrow every year (needlessly) and then the Universities in turn raise their rates (needlessly).

Going to college right now is NOT a fiscally sound investment at the moment. Unless of course your dream is to be a doctor, particle physicist, or chemical engineer or something.

Do you have something specific that you will use this MBA for? If so then stay with it, if not, IMHO you should think twice. Or at least do it slow, and not full time.

PS. Even Forbes and others have published articles about how the MBA isn't what it once was and questioning whether it is still worth it.

PPS. I'm curious what school it is, if you want you can PM me. I would like to know how this plays out and what you decide because I OFTEN STILL consider finishing my degree. Even with the way I feel about it.
