Am I about to lose a client because of Shark Tank?

My client is in the second round of auditions for Shark Tank and it got me thinking. They might get a deal, as they are a fairly prominent company and the type of investment they usually go after.

If they do receive a deal they are likely to let the marketing aspect of the company be handed off to the hands of one of the Shark's team.

What are your guys' thoughts on the likelihood of me losing the client and what would you suggest I do in this situation?

If you are a cheaper option and are showing just as good of results, you should have nothing to worry about. In fact, you may be able to negotiate more work if they get a deal.

Whatever you do, make sure the site can handle a TON of traffic on the night it airs.

Why think negative IF you are a good service giver? Your client would be able to afford both the providers and I am sure of it. :) Just don't build walls around you proactively, IF you're good at what you do anyway... those mind walls become impregnable as time passes and wrecks you in the process. Cheer up and face the reality of the real competitive world! No sane client will want to lose a partner if that partner is valuable to the company in ANY way, even if new, bigger, and same-field partners join the firm imo, and if that client isn't a total assh0le AND doesn't have assh0les as his part- or full-time company advisers!

This is definitely what I would hope for but if the shark gives them the chance to go with their credited marketing firm etc. No matter how much I have done or could do they would probably go with the Sharks opinion. If someone with that much respect in the business field asked me to do that I probably would.

This I did not actually think about. Looks like some upgrades are in order.

This is currently what I am doing and trying to organize a marketing plan for when it does air and after the fact. I would never sabotage them as they are a long time client and I personally want them to do well even if it does cost me their business.

If the Shark does suggest they go with his team, and they decide to do so, don't worry. Keep communication open with the client and it might be an opportunity for you.

A very positive way to look at it. I would love to even join up with the strategies they had and learn more an more from it. That would be the most ideal. From my experience they aren't assh0les but people can switch their emotional attachment on/off when money/business is put in front of them.

Definitely keeping that opportunity open. Even just to watch the strategies they do use and implement it for other clients would be of benefit in the worst case scenario.

Sorry, but what service are you providing them with exactly?

Even Mark Cuban does not actually take over the site management and that is his forte. He typically offers help and his support staff but does not "hands on" manage so I would think that, although it is wise to prepare for anything, you probably going to be in pretty good shape should they get on the show.

I run their website, social media, blog, seo

Good to hear that. I am pretty excited for them to get on the show and to see what actually happens behind the scenes to companies that make deals or even if they don't the publicity received from it. Any particular things you can think of that I should prepare for?

Stay positive all the way imo. :). That's because a seed planted in the mind goes a long way in breaking or making a future. A negative seed needs to be taken out at the earliest sight, lest it goes deep and then leaves its genetic stamp (negativity traits) and ofc corrupts the mind for a long time to come! Of course be prepared for any eventualities, but also guard yourself from doubting yourself and letting it build that negativity... Not to panic is the first step in staying positive however big is the problem. Negativity fighters will take this moment not only to stop the panicky state, but will find better ways to bigger success!

Communications, planning, newer strategies and cheerfulness will go a long way to build that success despite such a huge problem event OR a huge opportunity event (depends on how you see it :)) comes knocking at your door.

Of course you need a level and cool thought process, and thinking of how you can put yourself in the bigger picture and at the center-stage of it, however seemingly big the newcomers are! And that takes a lot of strength which you need to have with the help of a HiQ pro approach and total success mentality. Good luck... this I believe must be the beginning a greatly successful future for you! So play the game well... :)

Don't worry, if you apply your inner-self to this, the perfect wisdom to find ways around the problem/s (as you might perceive them to be at present) will automatically and magically appear before you at appropriate time/s. Not panicking is the best way to actually begin the process imho ofc. lol. So take those deep breaths and get composed....

    And,
That shall be $10k + taxes for this little and 100% ProQ pep talk!
jk, but wouldn't mind (why should I?) if you'd pay... but pay in a lot happier state and it's accepted with joy! :D

Hope this relieves you of any of those weights on your necksides. :)

Wow, thank you for that. When are you writing your book ;)

Seems to me it's time to get in a position of total success mentality. I do like the sound of it and I really am going to try and make it the beginning of a very successful future for myself and my clients.

Thank you again for the uplifting words of encouragement and advice!

The worst case scenario is you will loose a client (eventually they all leave).
But you are not focusing on the big positive side. You did manage a client that lead him on shark tank and you can add this on your portfolio.

This is not a potential loss, this is a massive potential opportunity... get yourself around the table in the initial due diligence stage, and make sure you're a shining star.

I can't think of any business in the world that doesn't need 'good seo', particularly venture investors who have dozens or hundreds of businesses in early stages...

    It's a massive opportunity.

I would love that but that might require some travel which may have to happen.
