Hello guys,

I just wanna know what do you think about that :
The story : someone hired me to help him make a live on his website (streaming), he paid me upfront then i paid for the streaming service ... to make a live on a website it needs some software to be installed however his windows is bad, nothing want to install and he asked me to fix the windows and install a new one, i refused and asked him to do that because it's not my job

The question is : do i have to do it myself ?

Please tell me what do you think because i feel like i didn't do my job.

Thank you

So his computer/windows is out of date and/or not working so he cannot run the latest software? Is this the problem?

If I were your client I would consider a new computer if I plan to go 10 toes in live streaming.

Yes he uses WIN 7 and it sucks, no drivers installed not organized ... most of software need 8 and up

What do you think ?

He payed you for the streaming right ? So if you work in IT and he asks you for it, you can install windows for him, no big deal dude.
Windows is Free. But if it is not your field, you didn't cheat him

I believe this is an unexpected issue on both your parts? Initially before starting this project were you aware that his os could be a problem?

Look at it from a business perspective.

This guy is out of his depth, how long would it take you to do this extra work?
Do it for free and this guy will think you are amazing.

Ten years down the line if he's a millionaire businessman and comes looking for you to hire you, he'll remember you for helping him out.

You are entitled to say to him; " no, tough. Do it yourself" but that will leave a bitter taste.

We sell links on here, but if someone comes and asks for suggestions for anchors, we'll do these for clients.
Yes we could refuse or ask for more money, but we prefer to look after our clients, so they keep coming back.

It's not hard to update windows. It might be nice to do it or ask to charge him slightly higher.

The problem is : it's a remote job.

You cannot update windows via Teamviewer or some such thing?

That would be the easiest thing to do I would think and keep your client happy as well as make you look like a superhero for doing him/her a favor.

I don't know that i can update from WIN 7 to WIN 8 or 8.1 on TeamViewer
