Am I a bad person in THINKING of selling Confederate flags at Amazon?

Heard the news of many people at Amazon are making a killing with these flags. I'm on the edge buying these and selling them later.

Is it illegal though to hop on this money making train? For me its just a flag but not sure if I'm promoting racism but will I cause a spike racist rants if so maybe I should look at other venues? (What if I tell them that you are buying from a Non American, so I could at least separate Southern Pride vs White supremacy thing)

So if I'm getting this right, I should keep an ear out for getting this "evil" items or at least items that are deemed controversial or unethical like furry sex toys, will I get sales in selling videos of HoneyBooBoo pageants or at least other countries' beauty pageants, if exporting wholesale cigarettes will I get a Sin tax?

So many questions, don't know if I should join or not, could I be in the IM business with a conscience or should I bow to profit or is there a balance between the two?

Well that's my moral dilemma rant thanks for reading

As a heads up - please keep it civil. If you've got a problem with someone's comment, the report button at the bottom of the post is far more effective than a sweary rant.

Just sell it, people don't like censorship and they like taboo things. An inanimate object can't be evil or unethical.

Amazon pulled it already, ebay is trying to get rid of it, and alibaba is pulling it as well. So many companies are becoming such wimps that someone can step in and make a ton of money.

So if you want to go a step further you could make an uncensored marketplace that has all kinds of things that can be offensive to people.

Might as well profit, someone else is going too. As long as it's not illegal.

Thanks for the update:) Moral dilemma over

Maybe I can make my own flag and design like "Unity flag" or "Buy this flag if you support racial equality"
If that doesn't work, I could save up my money wait for one year and sell "Gay pride parade flags" or this coming July for the old fashion, patriotic "AMERICAN FLAG"

Why not sell both, have one website for offensive things, one website for non-offensive things and not link them together?

On the news yesterday they said Amazon is going to stop selling confederate flags so if you want to do this you better buy you up fast before the listings get removed.

The funny thing is that so many very popular flags are offensive to massive amounts of people yet aren't being pulled from so many online marketplaces. You could get your ass kicked for flying some of them in certain areas, yet no big talk about it in the media.

Sorry if this seems a stupid question, but I'm really confused.

Why these flags are pulled down from the shelves? Especially, when they know people can make tons of money selling them.

    Can someone please explain?

Because the stores aren't dedicated to the market that would buy them, so they have to pull them so they don't lose other sales.

They think it caused the lunatic pill popper to go out and kill people. Its a ruse to keep people from calling for bans for dangerous mind altering drugs.

Most flags would have to stop being sold, its not about racism or no racism, its about the market.

Most flags don't apply to the USA.

It's damage control, nothing more and nothing less.

Wouldn't be surprised if they "reintroduced" the flag in like 2-5 years when everybody forgets about this.

Just the politicians and other hopefuls talking about banning them in the US. Good luck with that one.

People are probably going to forget about it in 6 months at most, there will be some kind of natural tragedy such as hurricane or tornado that kills people and causes massive damage, or another man made tragedy that is caused by another lunatic.

Even if a store still was selling an offensive item, people would forget to boycott when they find that the store has a lower price than a store that took down the item.

Just because Walmart and Amazon stop selling Confederate flags doesnt mean theres going to be any shortage of them. I can imagine theres 200 ol' south giftshops in every southern state with a basement full of the things.

tl/dr: Im sure theres better niches than setting up a web store to sell three $5 flag a month to Lynard Skynnard fans.
