Hey, this is something I've been struggling with for a while and would like your opinions.

One of my sites gets almost 10,000 unique visitors a day but I've always had a problem monetizing it.

I run adsense, other ad networks and sell ad space. I have links to affiliate products.

The site is a news website.

With that in mind how would you monetize it further?

    Thanks for your opinions.

From the sounds of it your doing the major things, but what you might want to think about is placement of these things

for example - put cpa offers, adsense related stuff on the article pages where its niche is the same or similar.

Is this all organic traffic? What kind of bounce rate do you have? I'd love to have that kind of problem on one of my sites. I get decent conversion rates on most of my sites, but not nearly enough traffic.

If you're traffic is really targetted for your site, then you just need to work on tweaking your ads to appeal more to your visitors. Make sure your offers are for the same niche your traffic is looking for. I know thats kind of hard with a news site, because your getting traffic based on your news articles. But you can still look at the ads being served by the adsense and if they don't look like things that would be likely for peopl to click on, then go into your adsense settings and start excluding some of the ads. There are a few threads on bhw that give lists of urls that you should for sure be excluding anyway.

Adjust the position and colors on your ad blocks. There are a few threads that discuss ways to optimize that as well.

Really check out the search terms that are getting people to your site. If you see any trends there, then compare that against the type of affilliate offers your making. If they don't match up well, then go find some different affilliate programs.

You've pretty much done the hard part, which is getting a lot of traffic. As long as they are real visitors, you should be able to get something converting with just a little trial and error.

Thanks dudes. Got Adsense and my Affiliate offers nailed (Clickbank is pretty shit for this kinda thing).

Yep it's organic traffic from search engines and backlinks, it's an authority site with some pages of PR 8.

I had been thinking about selling some digital products, but don't have a frickin clue what type of product to sell them.

What product would you sell on a news site?
