    Hi,

I receives more and more request for a guest post with an author link, in first place it look good like a great article for free but I wonder :

It will make loose some link juice and affect the ranking ?
It will give more authority to my site ?
Something I need to know about it ?

I have still never seen this question approached here

    Thanks a lot!

What i used to do was change the author + link if it looks spammy because i don't want my blog becoming a spam-fest and i would always manually approve them and change stuff around so it looks as if i am running an active blog with lots off activity which would make potential visitors want to leave a comment :) hope this helps somewhat.

Why would you lose anything for legitimate links on your site? You may install hacks that anonymize all outgoing links, or set them to be no follow if it really bothers you.

Not a good idea, a money site should not have many outbound links to competitor sites.

Thanks for your answer, I think there is a real debate here

Instinctively I will be more in the opinion of trishathe007

But yes I talk only about a nice quality guest post with a great content linked to a quality site

I would say yes but have strict rules. Non-competing sites only, and obviously high quality content that's not just made to get a link off your site.

In my point of view it?s a bad idea, many outward links to competitors sites will affect your money sites.

I allow guest posts, even actively seek out guest posters. I don't "no-follow" the links, I give them some benefit for the great content.
I just have a few rules for a guest post:
Must be original, high quality content, minimum 1,000words, pictures/video supplied(and with proof of ownership/reuse rights).
No spamming the post, if I catch a bunch of spam backlinks coming to the post, I delete it.
They can share an excerpt on their site/social media linking back to my site.

    In return I give them
    Do-follow link
I blast it out to my social media, promoting the post.
I promote it to my mailing list.

I'll usually back their post up with some expired web2.0 backlinks to juice it up.

I see nothing wrong with this, it just helps build my brand, my authority in the niche, and expands my potential audience by the pass through traffic.

A bit of advice is to seek out a guest poster that is in the same niche that may just be using a web2.0 as their site, they find it a real honor to post on your site and often don't care about SEO as much because they are writing about their passion, but often times have a strong following within their little circle. Or I will target a full site that is close to my niche, like if I have a site about starting your own business, I might reach out to a business insurance salesman that runs a blog, or to a printing company. That way it isn't straight competition and gives you a big benefit.

Concurring to what @patriotnews has been talking about, if there's one thing that I might add, you should only allow guest posts from people or businesses that can help promote your business in some way-- even indirectly. For me, if If my website was dealing in jewelry, I'd love to have a guest post on "what's trending in men's fashion", as much as on topics like "why gardening is such a stress-buster for women"

Don't just allow any guess post.

Make a list of topics (understand: keywords) and have them write articles on those.

They get hg link and you get free content + rankings.

Make sure your call to action is mentioned before theirs.

Allowing guest post is a good idea. But make sure they write place good contents and links. Don't allow more than 2 links. The biggest mistake you can make as a blog owner is to give out author accounts for frequently posting articles. You shouldn't trust any authors don't know what type of contents and back link they posted on your site.

That was a good post! Up until now I hadn't considered making it apparent that if they spammed the article it would be taken down, that will be a good precondition.

What's your opinion of spam? Do you have metrics you adhere to i.e. TF CF for links?

Also, what did they say specifically (if you don't mind me asking) that got through the barrier of spam emails wanting guest posts?

Did they have any warm-up tactics before you accepted their guest post? Like:
    -retweeting you
    -sharing your posts
    -blog commenting

Did they have to follow up a few times before getting a response from you?
    Appreciate any responses!

I guess guest posting is a good way to get backlinks.

I count spam as any junk link, if I see a GSA blast come in, I redirect the page, if I see a junk PBN link, I redirect the page, if I see a couple well built web 2.0s or something I don't care. I don't do metrics, I trust my gut.

My first layer to weed out spam emails looking for a guest post is to set out 2 specifics I expect:
    Email with specific wording
    -and-
I ask for no article to be attached, instead I ask for an elevator pitch in the email body.
If they don't meet both, I toss it, even if they aren't a spammer, if you can't follow the first 2 instructions, you probably won't be supplying me with a quality article.
Then in my reply, I ask for the article, plus a separate pages bio, plus links to their social media pages.

The main page I do guest posting on, has very little social media presence, just a Facebook fanpage. It does have a tumblr, a blogspot, a Pinterest though, but no, it doesn't require interaction with me.

Let's say your site has a nice DA, TF, traffic and content. There's nothing wrong charging them $$ for a guest post. This is what I've been doing the whole time. So in the end, you'll get free quality articles (you have to review them) and money.
