    Go to admin panel.
    Go under "Settings". Choose Permalinks.
Change your selection to Custom Structure.
In the radio box put this:
    /%postname%/

    Save settings. Enjoy.

Of course if your categories are keywords too you may want to try...

    /%category%/%postname%/

Say if "make money online" was a keyword and a category it would create a post like:

    http://www.mysite.com/make-money-online/make-alot-of-money.htm

There is some question as to if a title gets too long and you get penalized but I don't think that is an issue.

The win-win-win scenario is getting a domain with your keyword+ using option #2 category keyword + post title keyword = total SEO domination.

Go to your wordpress dashboard -> Settings -> Permalinks

Check Custom Structure and type /%postname%.htm in that text box.

actually using - /%category%/%postname%/ can slow WP down (over time) as 'category' is a name field used internally by WP (this is something they still have not fixed) keep in mind that this is only an issue for a site with many many posts.

best to stick with just - /%postname%/ - or if you will have a LOT of posts?
    go with /%year%/%postname%/
    - or /%year%/%monthnum%/%postname%/

having the date will not have any adverse SEO effect, and will make it easier to sort out your posts.

Also, remember your .htaccess must be writeable (or you can download then upload), and you must have mod_rewrite available on your webserver for permalinks to work.
