This is going to be a simple journey. I have an Ebay account with %100 feedback (50+ Positive reviews), I built this account up selling some of my grandmothers belongings after she passed. I basically took all her valuable collectibles and undercut all the sellers by about %20 (I didn't care because it was all profit to me anyway). I made a good $3k in a summer just from doing that. My paypal limit has been released, and I usually get the payment quickly, which is always nice. After that I began selling some of my random stuff, but now I'm at the point where I have NOTHING to sell, so here comes in AliExpress..

I am in the testing stage right now, but plan to scale up if things go as I anticipate.

Rather than buying individual products and trying to sell against competition, I have found 3 different products that I decided to group together as a lot, and sell them together in one price. This is basically my "twist" that I am hoping will give me an advantage over other sellers.

    I bought:

    x2 of Item 1
    x2 of Item 2
    x2 of Item 3

    Total investment was: $28.26

I plan on selling both lots at the price of $49.99, which would net $99.98

I purposely have selected items that are small and cheap to ship, so I will be offering free shipping. I am anticipate about $5 to ship out each lot.

    $28.26
    +
    $10.00
    =
    $38.26 - INVESTED

    So....

    $99.98
    -
    $38.26
    =
    $61.72 - PROFIT

So about $30 profit for each lot sold.. I am only selling 2 lots to test the waters and see what happens. If they sell quickly and it seems something worth perusing, I will then by 10 more of each item and group up and sell 10 more lots, then keep investing the money into it, then possibly find other items and do the same thing.

Like I said, right now I'm just testing the waters, but I'm hoping these will sell quick and it will give me the kick in the butt I need to make this a $2k/month business.

Unfortunately, items from China take like 15-30 days to get to the US.. so it might be awhile until I am able to report back, but I still wanted to document this and keep track of ROI and all my expenses, and maybe even motivate some other BHW members to just take some action.

Thanks for reading, will report back when I receive my items.

Hi, good luck for doing that.
So, you are shipping from Aliexpress to your home, then shipping to your customers yourself ?

Yes, I don't want to drop ship because it will take FOREVER and my Ebay customers will not be happy. I have an advantage because of my lot twist, plus I will be shipping from the US, and everyone else is shipping from China mostly. So my plan is to just order in bulk (eventually) receive them from China, then list, sell, ship on ebay myself. I feel that a $30+ profit margin per lot is worth my while, so I'm going to scale this up and keep reinvesting the profits into it.

I've also began looking at other items/niches to break into as well.

Another reason I only ordered two of each is because I want to inspect the products and make sure they aren't garbage. I even went with a seller who charges more for the same item, but his item looks A LOT better in quality, so I went with him instead.

For a little side income, create videos reviewing the items you bought - sign up with aliexpress affiliates and put affiliate links in descriptions of the videos, or create a simple blogspot site and link from YouTube to a short post for each item.

If your uncomfortable with speaking or having your face on camera, just create videos for products that are self explanatory. Things like RC Cars - people just want to see how fast they go, how durable they are etc.

That's not a bad idea. If I'm already going to buy and test these products anyway, it wouldn't hurt to make a short video reviewing them for a few extra dimes. And no I'm not camera shy. Thanks for the input.

    Update:

Just received my first set in the mail today. Item was a little smaller than I expected, but I am extremely satisfied with the quality and attention to detail it has.

I'm hoping I receive the other two sets of items quickly, and the quality is just as good.

I have not forgotten about this journey!

Looking forward to your journey! ;)

I'm doing eCommerce since 2 years now and I'm impressed on how many people from the IM area jumped on the train in the last couple of months...

The potential is huge! I mean, the profit margins aren't THAT huge (at least for me... around 60% margin on FBA... So a little bit different business model than your's) but it's a solid business where in my opinion everyone can start with.

The thing is... Startup cost, right?

    Think about that guys:

You start with ~40$, like Sythix did.

You are buying products, selling them all and make an overall NET profit of ~100$. Take that money and repeat the process... Over & Over & Over - Again! (That's called REINVESTMENT and is responsible for many BIG businesses!) And if you cannot afford 30$ as startup cost for your business... I don't know than... maybe think about staying at your 9 to 5 job would be the best idea, seriously! It's a business like any other too. You need to invest in order to make money... no matter if it's money or time!

So, my main intention was to post just a quick "good luck & ty" but it seems that it exploded a little bit. *lol*

Anyways, keep up the good work!

    Regards,
    herzit

Thanks for your kind words herzit. The problem around here seems to be the lack of people taking action. I also have another successful journey that deals with ecommerce e using aliexpress and Spotify which never would have happened if I didn't break that negative mindset. I actually started this journey before that, but I want to keep going with it. I'm super stoked about the products, and have a feeling I'm in a fast selling niche. Time will tell.

    Update:

I just got my second item set and once again I am extremely pleased with the quality. The item is actually a little bit bigger than expected, and features something extra that I hadn't noticed before when I purchased. Cool.

Not only that but I also asked another vendor for a free sample of a product that I plan to do another shopify promotion with. I am not sure if they have some sort of affiliation with each other but they arrived in the same package, the item seems like a good giveaway product, so I am going to roll with it.

Item 1: took 14 days to arrive.
Item 2: took 30 days to arrive.

I will have to keep this is mind when I begin to scale up and start putting in large orders. I may even consider paying extra for faster shipping if I can still work out a decent ROI.

For now, I will be waiting for the last set of items to arrive.

This journey is slow, I apologize. But its still going. Thanks.
