    Hi,

happy new year to you all, I'm starting this 2013 with a huge resolution: quitting my 9-5 job and reach the 15k a month in the next 12 months.

    THE PAST

I'm 32 years old and I live in Italy.
I went through 2 years of copywriting, 6 months of freelance SEO job, 2 years with a small web agency that I owned, 3 years as a marketing director for an IT company.

I've been doing SEM consulting for offline clients and I had quite a big success with it but I'd like to work completely online without having to deal with the huge backend of contacting and assisting clients.

I've been doing BH stuff, especially for link building, for nearly 5 years, and now (with the right budget) I can get the first page for pretty competitive terms, but this won't be my main business model right now.

    THE PRESENT

Starting point: now I'm averaging 4k a month / 130 dollars a day doing lead generation for offline clients.
My aim is to reach the $500/day mark doing affiliate marketing.

    THE FUTURE

Why I'm doing this (the most important question) - I'd like do things I really love (all the online marketing side) without having to deal with a 9-5 job. I'd like to travel all over the world, get a home in South East Asia, stop being a p*ssy and become an online entrepreneur. I'd love to dedicate myself to some extra-work passions (learning a new language, I'm thinking about Russian, learn to play guitar and do some MMA training).

The fear is huge but so is the strength of my resolution, I'm trying to put my back against the wall as hard as possible. As Eleanor Roosevelt said: "Do one thing every day that scares you."

Organic traffic is not the ideal channel for this new venture since I like to test and run different campaigns in different markets and I love promoting products without the hassles of creating them and assisting clients, so I'll try for the first time with:

    - List Building / Affiliate Offers
    - PPV and Self-serve-traffic

I've never done any of that and I'm just starting. If the money is on the list we'll see...

I have 2-3 other projects in my mind and I'll describe them as soon as I can actually start them.

    - - - -

Since I think the most sure-fire "push button - get rich quick" IM strategy is to work your ass like a maniac 10 hours a day actually DOING things, I will work 6 days a week and update this thread daily.

I had huge problems with accountability in the past (I've been kinda an hit-and-run find-new-BH-things-everyday guy) but now I know I need to stop fuc*ing around and get to take massive action and I decided to be accountable to this thread at least :) (If I can't do this I have no chance of reaching my goals).

Thanks to all those who will follow me in this journey.

    HAVE A GREAT DAY,
    Alex

    Alex,

I'm looking forward to following this one, mate!

Isn't your online lead generation a fully online business? You have success there... Couldn't you just scale it up and make your $$$ goals that way?

    Best of luck in 2013!

    Peace,
    Jax

The problem / advantage here is that I'm the gas tank. If I can pace and push myself I'm sure I can reach my goals. That's a big IF anyway, I know it :)

You made an excellent point here. If my only target was making money I'd go with offline clients. For SEO works (with a huge deal of automation and the right services) I reached a solid 8 hours / 700 dollars payout for each client when I was doing freelancing jobs. The big problem here is the backend, when you're working for someone else you're building their lifestyle, not yours...assisting clients was killing me. I'd rather spend my time setting up marketing funnels than answering support emails.

I'd like to build-up some online channels for "passive" (or quite-passive) income. I've seen clients making hundreds of thousands with nearly automated ecommerce stores; I built their sites and managed all their online marketing. They surely have huge logistic backends, the profits are much smaller than their total revenue, but I think affiliate marketing (ex: Amazon) can replicate this process (for my own wallet, for the first time) if I'll be able to scale it up.

Anyway, I've a long year ahead of me, I'll try every channel, I don't rule out anything :)

    - - - - - - - -

    Hi,

today I finished writing my first 10-email autoresponder sequence (it took me 4 days):

1 intro as soon as they opt-in
4 infomercial emails about my primary product
    2 emails with free info
3 infomercial emails about my secondary product

    and so on.

Right now I'm using CB products, later I'll add JVZoo and PeerFly.
I'll send the emails every 2 days and I'll add new ones going forward.

I've also started filing my new tax id (Italian bureaucracy at its best...).
I registered a new domain for link shortening purposes, set-up my hosting, installed wordpress with pretty link plugin and cloacked my affiliate links.

I started using an agile project management tool and I created my first 3 days sprint, this has 2 big advantages: planning what I have to do next kinda quiets my mind, knowing what I have to do and having a fixed deadline greatly increase my productivity.

    2nd DAY RUNDOWN
    Costs: $21 (domain + privacy protection + Charity round-up ;)
Lead Generation for Offline Clients: $130
    Affiliate Marketing - Funnel #01 - $0

    Profits: $109

    Hi, today:

    * I set-up my autoresponder sequence in Aweber
    * I created my Squeeze Page
    * I optimized my Squeeze Page for PPV pop-windows (ex: LeadImpact is 800 x 600)
    * I created a small ebook as a thank-you page gift for my newsletter subscribers (good quality PLR report, I added the affiliate links :)
    * I reviewed a copy for one of my offline clients (for free ---aaahrgggh---)

Today I talked with a guy I know who's a complete tech genius...he automated 99% of the contents of private-network blog I created some weeks ago and it's being published as a relevant resource by top magazine sites :) I couldn't believe it...that's totally crazy. I admire what he does, to me it's like black magic...

    3rd DAY RUNDOWN
Costs: $9 (Aweber Trial, PLR report)
Lead Generation for Offline Clients: $130
    Affiliate Marketing - Funnel #01 - $0

    Total Revenue: $130
    Profits: $121

    HAVE A GREAT DAY,

Hi, quick update here. Today I've set-up my OTO / Thank You page with a free ebook (containing affiliate links) and some useful resources to read while waiting on my first mail (some affiliate links here too...). I've signed up with Lead Impact and made my first payment, now I'm setting up Prosper 202 for tracking, that will be a huge pain :)

    Alex,
Thanks for keeping us posted... Hope you continue with the updates.

Quick Questions: what are you using to create your squeeze pages? What does LeadImpact do exactly?

    Thanks!

    Hi Jax,

I have 2 squeeze pages in place now, one with WordPress and WP Squeeze Page plugin, one with Kajabi (I wanted to try this platform some time ago to build a membership site).

LeadImpact is a Pay Per View network.

    - You select your landing page (your squeeze page / landing page / affiliate offer / CPA offer...) and the keywords you want to bid on - exactly like in Google AdWords.

    - When a user (that downloaded adware apps such as weather tools, screen savers, emoticons etc...) search for your keywords, your ad is triggered in a pop-under window.

    - - - - - -

Today I'm still going through LeadImpact credit card verification, I hope I can get started in a couple of days.
As I suspected, Prosper 202 configuration gave me several headaches, for now I'll use Lead Impact internal tracking.
In the meantime, I'm writing some email offers I intend to use for mass-email campaigns (I have some scraped lists on my hd and I'll give them a try).

    Alex,
Thanks for the quick response... I may check into Lead Impact. If you get any love from the network for a referral, let me know and PM your referral link. If I sign up, I will use it.

    Have a good week!

    Hi Jax,

thank you! Let's see if I can get some love...I think I'll have to do a lot of testing to see some results, I expect to pay a nice amount of money to grasp how it really works...

    Hi guys,

thanks a lot for following me.

Today I'm still waiting for Lead Impact credit card verification. Minimum funding to enter the network is $200. To complete the funding process I must verify my payment by obtaining the actual amounts of 2 separate transactions from my credit card provider...I think they usually show in a couple of days...

Since I'm dying waiting I decided to try some banner advertising - I made my first banner with Photoshop (It's actually pretty nice...I don't know how I made it :)

    Hi,

PPV - I finally went through the credit card verification process, now my landers are awaiting approval. (I think it's 1 day for every new keyword / url you use in your Lead Impact campaign, Monday to Friday).

MEDIA BUYING - The banner campaign went live, with the following output:

    Expense: $1.06
    Hits: 62,150 (24,450 unique)
    Clicks: 16 (14 unique)

    CPM: $0.02
    CPC: $0.07

I want to grasp this channel, and at the same time I'd like to build some sustainable long-term business model, so today I started to work with another copywriter to build the content for a membership site.

you seem like a hard enough worker so you will definitely reach your goals.
as i like to say, if you dont have those "eye bleeding" days from working on the computer for a long period of time, then you wont be successful.
the nights where you stay up until 4 am are part of the process :)
your lead generation business is doing well, so i suggest that you keep doing that.
but also test new methods at the same time. having multiple income streams is a great goal.

    Thanks a lot Empire,

I had a lot of bleeding-eyes days and nights in the past years (due to Time Zone differences I watched a lot of webinars waking up in the middle of the night :).

I know I have a long road in front of me, but I also know from the channels and strategies that already did work for me (especially link building) that after some time and a lot of work and experience you start developing a real sixth sense, you start to really understand what you're doing, then the money flows - it's hard to keep going 'till that moment comes but keep going is really the only thing you have to do.

I'll surely go on with my lead generation business, diversification is the first thing I need to achieve. All the channels and strategies will come together and help my other marketing efforts...AND I have to pay the bills, anyway, this is a really strong point...

    Ok, what a day...

I spent 6 hours with my main client, 3 with my tax consultant, a couple of hours driving like a madman - - I have a lot of bureaucracy and taxes to pass through and tonight I'm soo tired, I'll update you guys and immediately have a good night sleep.

So I just came home, expecting at least 37 sales for a start...(before being flooded I'm just joking)
