Approximately 1 day ago, I bought a new domain and set it up on my hosting. Today I was going to start doing some SEO and I was just looking up some information about my domain. Since I have the Alexa toolbar installed, I checked it out and it says there are 14 websites linking in.

Now, I have no idea how this is possible. And I also checked those website, there are no backlinks to my website on them. At least not visible ones.

Could anyone tell me how this is possible? Is it just a bug or?
    Thanks!

domain must have been registered before to somebody else then expired and then you bought it.. I have noticed that too with one of my domains, alexa doesn't deletes links after domain is deleted..

Ah...so it's probably up to it then.
Is there any way I can check if the domain was used before maybe?

    Thanks anyway!

Would most likely be a dropped domain yeah. I just bought a domain and it already has 24 backlinks.

Your domain has been previously owned. You can also have a whois lookup at domaintools.com to check the website's ownership info, rank, traffic, ip add management, etc. Also to note, it's important to perform due diligence when buying a domain.

Yeah, the Wayback machine shows that the domain has been used in the month of January for a couple of days, so I suppose it's not that bad.

Thanks everyone who tried to help!
