    Hi,

First of all, I am not sure if this is in the right section so feel free to move it if not.

I run a small, underground record label and we are releasing an album soon. I was just wondering if anyone has any good ideas to market it on a small budget?

I have seen some of the big labels paying facebookers to comment relating to the album everywhere. Just trying to get a list of some ideas to get as much traffic and coverage as possible.

What do you count as a small budget? I think Facebook is essential, but you've got to spend on it now to really stand much chance of engagement.
Obviously there's the traditional music pr routes, emailing bloggers and sending review copies to magazines etc. Make the most of local music media too. Where are you based? Reddit is another good option for instant traffic and feedback.

Thanks a lot for your response. We are based in the UK and only have a budget of around £100. We will be doing all the usual such as emailing bloggers and stuff. Just trying to think of some outside the box ideas.

We have tried reddit before, but can't seem to get any traffic at all from it.

I'm also interested in getting some answers for this, my client has good music it's just hard to get it heard without a crazy budget.

It's about getting in touch with the right people, that's for you to research. Just earlier I discovered a popular art magazine from a Facebook friend, contacted them about prices to feature my work & they wrote within hours - kept my rights and featured it on their FB of XX,XXX targeted fans. Don't aim low, shoot high.

Press releases are wonderful for connecting people with your product, talk to your malls too. You'd be surprised of the costs for a huge wall poster (low $200s weekly)
