Ahrefs vs SEMrush vs MOZ: vs Yoast = Which SEO Tool Should You Use?

Ahrefs and SEMRush are both solid SEO tools. You can't go wrong with either. If you are into aff marketing, go with Ahrefs.

Moz on the other hand is a load of bollocks.

Yoast is not an SEO tool, it's an SEO plugin for the WordPress CMS.

Competition Analysis/Reverse Engineering = Ahrefs
Keyword Difficulty Check = Semrush

But don't choose blindly...

Test and Choose the one which has more data for your niche.

Moz is shit nowadays. Even Ubersuggest is way better.

From my experience working with local SEO projects, I’d break it down like this:

  • Ahrefs → best for backlink analysis. The database is huge, and I use it mainly for link audits + competitor gap checks.
  • SEMrush → stronger if you want an all-in-one suite (SEO + PPC + site audit). Their keyword data is really handy for competitive niches.
  • Moz → DA/PA is still widely referenced, but honestly I don’t use it much beyond quick domain checks.
  • Yoast → totally different category, more for on-page/content optimization inside WordPress. It’s not really comparable to the others.
If I had to pick just one, Ahrefs for links and SEMrush for broader campaigns. Using them together covers most of the gaps.

Hi,

I currently have 'PRO' accounts with Ahrefs v+ SEMrush + MOZ and err .......Yoast .... they send me weekly newsletters and I must admit I read them and they are somewhat enlighting and informative, in the main part. if you can get past the self-congratulatory noise!!!!!.... please let me know and the BHW brethren.. who do you think is kicking ass in the SEO tool department in October 2021.... many thanks ... Paul TheContractMan.
Those newsletters can definitely have both useful information and self-promotion! In my opinion, SEMrush is ahead in terms of useful features in October 2021. However, Ahrefs is still the best tool for analyzing backlinks.
