With all the penalties I think we all know how important it's becoming to have a reliable service that shows accurate data about a site's link profile.

Whether if its yours or your clients' sites you need to have a tool like that.

So which one is it? Which one do you think is best?

I personally chose Ahrefs because I like the ability do do reports and the interface is much better than MajesticSEO.

    Which one are you using?

I use Ahrefs, tried majestic too, but it seemed not as good as Ahrefs.

So I guess ahrefs is indeed the best alternative.

I however find that they keep old/removed links too long in their index. Sometimes I click on a link and never find it there. Hope they improve it in future.

I vote for aHrefs, too. The organic keyword finder is great.

I will still go to AHREFS since they can provide accurate data like the # of new/lost backlinks and anchor text distribution which is important nowadays. They also have a very user friendly interface.

+1 for Majestic. Not keen of Ahrefs, find Majestic does a better job in general.

The most reliable service is GWT, have not said that if you are going through a complex situation (a reconsideration request that was rejected several times) then go and check the links from all tools (Majestic, MOZ, Ahref, SEMrush etc)

    Few things to note:
1- GWT doesnt show you the anchor text so you need to crawl the links to find the anchor text
2- All tools do not do a good jobs in terms which links are dead or not, it is recommended to crawl the links yourself

It's really a tossup between the two. I've used both but lean more towards Majestic. You can't go wrong with either.
