    Hi,

i have bought an expired domain a few weeks. It had a pretty good authority and i put some content on it.
I have got it indexed but it does not rank for the main keyword in the top1000.

But for secondary or synonyms it ranks #1 or at least in top10.

I think that is the major reason, why the domain has been dropped in the first place.

It is a domain from a dentist.

I have checked the anchor text in majestics though i have found out that the site has no anchor text backlinks for the main keyword at all, so normally it should rank in top100 at least, for the main keyword since the site has no main achors and has a highly deoptimized link profile, but great authority links.

Any ideas what to do ?

Build some good quality links to the main keyword you want to rank for.

Well it is odd if a website is optimized for a keyword it should definitely appear within the top 1,000

I'd say take it slow first and build something like Social Bookmarks and just look for improvement.

If nothing is happening and that is in fact the reason the domain was dropped at least you didn't spend a bunch of money on SEO or waste a lot of time :)

Generate some backlinks with generic anchors or even url only and then some backlinks based on your target keyword. Social bookmarking is a good option to start with.

    Thanks

i would advise you to throw that domain away and buy brand new domain

buying expired domains its like cat in the bag, you never know if it has some penalty (even tho still indexed)

What kind of content did you put on it?

Was it generally written about your topic or was it written very specifically like a wikipedia quality article;-)

Right, expired domains are tricky. Often they are expired for a reason and usually a bad one.

Is it doing the Google dance or is it just no where to be found?
