after the penguin, AA blog comment blast and XR forum profile blast are totally useless?

I read around the BHW for a while after penguin updated, some people seem not to use the AA blog comment blast and XR forum profile blast in their link building pyramid, is this method totally useless? using these blasts for tier2 or tier3 are still useful for the link juice?

Why people make their philosophies if something has not worked for them. It doesn't mean that if something not worked for you will not work for everyone. I don't think so, AA blog comment blast and Xrumer profile links are not worthy, what i see that my competitor ranked his tier 1 links on major competitive niche using blog comments and xrumer links.

It is still useful for tier2 backlinks. strengthening the tiers will give you best link juice.

Listen You can use them in tier 2 but your tier two should not contain spun content if you want to fool penguin and panda. Cheers !

You can use them direct if you know what you're doing,I do it all the time without any problems.You need to clean up the lists and know what to look for.
But hey,the more people that think like you the better...

You can use them directly to your money site for anchor text diversity, but don't overdo it. Don't blast thousands of links a day. You can also point them at your 2nd tier content, web 2.0s and etc. but as stated above you have to use quality content for those.

To be honest AA comment has been spam to death, you will not barely get any good result from it.

In my experience they provide little value when used directly to a money site. I suppose it would be a cheap/easy method of getting anchor diversification but besides that I'd use them mainly for getting stuff indexed. Most comments tend to get crawled frequently and thus are great for getting other more powerful links (web2.0's, PR's, Articles) indexed.

Low OBL/Niche specific/High PR blog comments are still very very powerful.

Lower quality links are not useless, but I would not use them for your money site (or even for Tier 1 links).
