FB used to be very spotty in sending out the email confirmation link, but it seems to be very efficient now. Would you say 10 seconds on average is about right?

Mostly it dosnt take much time if you use hotmails, yahoo and gmail.
Most probably its the same time like 10 sec what you have said.

between 10-20 at most, so its handy to open 2 tabs at the same time. Dont forget to change your pattern though

You don't have to wait for the confirmation email. Just click on the first email they send you . I had a problem with this too, i wouldnt get the confirmation email but now i figured out that just by clicking the link they send you on the welcoming email its all that you need.

You can still use FB without confirming your email. You can use it right away and confirm the email later. You won't be able to use all the functions tho
